    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

Found a pic of the cross members on how Grady did it before I recoated the tanks last year. 2x4 across and tied to stringers. Then edge board screwed into 2x4. I see room for improvement here for sure. Simple idea, but one that can be improved by going all the way across and just relieving for...

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

Will keep you posted for sure in the coming weeks. When I pull up the larger deck panel, I am going to re-examine the cross structure and might just add some additional cross beams if I can work it out. Something I had not formerly thought about. Thanks everyone for all their ideas and...

2 pumps from the one sea cock inlet?

Was on the search for a helm switch to handle the second pump. Not easy to find. Contacted Grady dealer and they can't get the same style any longer. The Euro Rocker switch with Green light. In case anyone is looking in the future, I think I found a source...

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

All makes sense for sure. I think I will go for the Pro Balsa for the weight savings. 30#'s give or take is 1/2 of the extra battery I am adding, so every bit helps. Even though, this boat seems to carry a heavy load very well. Same mpg whether full of fuel/ice and gear vs 100 gallons less on...

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

Agree on the confusion to why Grady used small squares as that can't be as strong as a solid sheet. I think once the balsa is wetted out and layered, it will not allow movement and will be very strong. I am adding a 4th battery, so maybe I should strongly consider reducing the weight. The...

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

I 3/4" Pro Balsa I have laying around looks just like the day I purchased it, so maybe you have a good point in that it would be more stable and not absorb the humidity as much. I have a couple of small scrap pieces on my desk at work and today, I was torquing it to simulate pressure to see how...

Anyone install an Intermittent Windshield Wiper switch?

Amp rating is a very good question. Was discussing this with some of my local scientists today on wiring, etc. and we discussed the amp rating. I checked the paperwork and there is no rating unfortunately. So, I am going to play it safe and ordered a second switch to run one for each motor so I...

    Tackle Storage

Thinking I would like to make a starboard or PVC board plano box holder in place of the wall mounted stove. I think I could get 6 or 8 boxes in this area. Never use the stove, so would be a good spot to make use of.

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

Sounds like there might be a difference in the Baltek vs the Pro Balsa. First being the price for Baltek is $25 for 1/2" and Pro Balsa is rounded to $38. From what I can tell, they are the same except that the Pro Balsa is already pre coated with thin resin film to aid in bonding. For $13...

Phase 1 of the winter project is complete

I would think 4200 would be the one of choice. For the inspection plates, perhaps just use some black silicone so they can be removed easily enough for inspection later.

If you all think this ISO resin is a good idea, I can purchase both my glass and resin from same company. This is the glass I am eyeballing: Fiberglass Biaxial Cloth is a #1708 E-glass Biaxial (+/-45 degree) Cloth with 3/4 oz mat backing. held together by light stitching Flat non-crimped...

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

It sounds like it is a good idea to not allow the wood core to extend to the screw area and just beef up the void between the edge of the wood to the edge of the panel with some extra layers of glass. That way, there will never be any wood exposed. Is anyone familiar with the ISO based resin...

Anyone install an Intermittent Windshield Wiper switch?

Update, just received the new wiper delay and it is easy to connect and works like a charm! Very happy now. Price is right and if you ever wanted one, now is the time to go for it as this one is easy to hookup and works very well. Basically, wires up like this: Red - Goes to hot with fuse...

    Gas Tank Hatch Recore

Ok guys, it is my turn. Started noticing that the floor had more give this season, and I had vacuumed as much water from out of the wood as possible hoping it to dry out some, of course I knew better back when I was recoating my tanks last year. So, bite the bullet and recore the hatches. 2...

    DeHumidifier

Update for ya'll....I picked up the WM pancake style dehumidifier since temps now getting down below freezing. For now, running both the Atlas and the WM model for a couple of weeks and put a humidity gauge in the cabin. Comparing to one on deck, about 10% average lower humidity, plus a few...

Anyone install an Intermittent Windshield Wiper switch?

What I have is likely from the 1980's when they last made them. It was a universal wiper delay model. Somewhere, someone got me started on this idea and had posted some wiring schematics to try. Was hoping to find out if they figured out the right combination even though I think I had it right...

Anyone install an Intermittent Windshield Wiper switch?

Well, I was very proud that I had finally won a bid on Ebay a while back in the summer and got a universal wiper delay switch system. Now that boat is home for the season, tried to connect it up. The manual has approx. 20 different ways to wire this thing up, but in the end, it should be very...

    Anchor Swivel issues

yeah I understand.. I hope to at the least fix the problem where the swivel gets jammed on the anchor.overall this is much better and easier with the winch system then doing it manually...just wanted to see if there are some tweaks to help improve what I have already.
