    Boat survey question

Would you have a 2004 Sailfish surveyed if you were buying it. The boat has 145 hours. How much would you expect a survey to cost. Do you consider the hour meters on these Yamaha engines tamper poof. thanks for your isights

    windless

Have others stated reasons they were not happy with them. To me the best accessory on the boat. I rarely used the anchor before I installed it. Curious as to what they did not like.

    Water system and Bleach

Motivator - My filters are right beford and after the the pump. The one before the pump is a strainer and the one after more of a filter. On the Gulfstream they are right beneath the bench seat at the stern. They really get gross with mold or algae.

    Water system and Bleach

I usse 1/2 gallon in a couple of gallons of water and the run the system to get the solution in the lines. Clean the filters and then flush for 1/2 hour until the bleach is gone. Works great for me and no bleach odor

Anyone go from a Gulfstream to Salifish

I am looking at a potential trade-up from a 2004 Gulfstream with F225 to a 2006 Sailfish with twin F225. The cockpit area square footage is not that much bigger. Big plus up in the cabin with the stand up head, shore power etc. I am doing a sea trial next weekend due to the lousy...

Deck going soft is this normal

I had both deck panels donw on a seafarer years ago. Iw was amazing the difference in weight after the repair. The panels were about 1/3 the weight of the soft ones being replace. Not sure if it was because they were waterlogged or the weight differnce of the wood used. I had ot replace them at...

    Windshield Wiper Replacement

Autopart stores carry a Rainex brand blade that has multiple attachements. I boughr them last year for a Gulfstream and they connect perfectly. I assume this is the same blade as the one on the Sailfish.

    Perfomance data on 232 with a 225 4 stroke

The 225F on a Gulfstream is not the ideal setup. It is okay with a light load and calm seas. If you running with 5 - 6 adults it can be tough in rough water to plane it out. It has a decent top end speed of about 36. Like everything there are trade offs and given the price of gas and where it is...

    Repower of 2000 Marlin

gf22 Thanks for the response. The way I'm looking at this is a 2000 Marlin in real good shape for around 80K. trade the engines for 4 strokes and if your numbers are close we are talking about a pretty nice package for around 102K. The question is can we now afford the gas to use it. My...

    Repower of 2000 Marlin

I have been looking at a 2000 Marlin powered with twin 2000 250 EFIs. I hate the thought of going backward in technologey from my current 2004 225F. Has anyone repowered twin EFIs to twin four stroke 250F. The current 250s are supposedly in good condition - any trade in value? Estimate of the...

    232 w/built in transom seat

Not sure of the question, Mine has the built-in transom seat, It is an 04. I believe in 05 they went with the fold away. Some like it some don't? On the built in model there are two coolers or storage cutouts on either side of the bench. I don't think I answered your question but for what it is...

    Islander W/F350??

Chris - I did not speak directly to the Factory. I did speak with a GW dealer and they told me GW advises against repowering an 04 Gulfstream with the 350 for the torque reasons mentioned previously.

    Islander W/F350??

BobP - I did not pursue any further - I thought it was strange that it could handle twin 200 but not the 350. It would have been the perfect solution to the underpower situation I am dealing with with a single F225. Most case it is enough to get by, however a full boat and heavy seas it can be...

    Islander W/F350??

I wanted to repower a 2004 Gulfstream with a 350 and the dealer told me GW soes not recommend it because of the added torque stress the engine would put on the hull. The boat is rated for 400HP. 350 is a different animal. I was told it actually runs quieter and smoother than the 225F I currently...

    226 New to GW family

Seafarer is not bad to sleep in - a heavy sleeping bag makes it a little more comfortable on the back. As I recall the padding is pretty thin on that mode era of GWs.

    Leak in my cabin.... Help

I had a similar problem on a Gulfstream when it was under warranty. The culprit was the posts supporting the hardtop. I know the dealer had to remove the interior liner and re-calk the posts. Not sure if there was a change to the fastening the system - Good Luck

Getting the boats off the trailer for bottom cleaning

A friend of mine does it by puting stands under the stern and then Raises them up so the boat is off the end the trailer. He then starts to pull forward slowly and the boat begins to slide off the trailer. As he inches forward he begins to ad blocks and finally the front stand. I have watched...
