    fixing chipped gelcoat

Are you referring to Spectrum gel coat or the patching paste? If paste, what did you use to thin it and how did you determine how much catalyst to use?

    Engine help

As Dennis said, fuel starvation is the most likely cause. The tests are different for injected vs. carbed motors. Also Dennis's recommendation to try a portable fuel tank is the simplest way to isolate a lot of potential problem areas. Start by connecting the line form the portable tank...

    Hurricane Prep HELP

The safest action is ti have the boat pulled and stored on land where the elevation is higher than the projected surge level. That said, it may be too late to have it pulled due to demand. If you have a trailer, pull it and do the same as above. Strap the boat to the trailer. Lower all tall...

Products for maintaining painted hulls vs gel coat?

Interesting. I didn't know that. My recommendation still applies, ask Grady what they recommend. My comments about the rub marks from shrink wrap apply too until I hear differently. I would hope that the current paint is a lot tougher than the pait my friend had. Good luck with the new baby!

Products for maintaining painted hulls vs gel coat?

Are you sure its painted and not gelcoat? When I look at tge Grady page for hull colors, they are all gel coat.Regardless, it's new so call Grady and ask how to care for it. Th user's manual should have a section on hull care. All that aside, I know of one friends who had a painted hull. That...

I respectfully disagree. I would much rather get a solid hull with crappy motors than decent motors on a crappy hull.

    2021 Adventure 208 Build

My 2001 doesn't have that feature either. So I suspect 2000 thru present don't have it. I am not sure when the cap mold changed.

Update: Leak in Head Discharge Line. West Marine Recommends Replacement with More Flexible Line

I believe the vented loop is only for the discharge line and if the selector were set to 'pumpout' that line does not have pressure. That said, there probably is a duck bill valve in the vent and if that wears out, it can cause a leak.

Ignore my comment:) I thought it was draining back into the bowl.

    Propeller question

I had my saltwater series prop rehubbed about 10 years ago. The insert may have been pressed in but it was also potted with something like urethane. I was told ( and did) wait 24 hours before installing the prop. While in the shop, I also had the prop reconditioned. If I remember correctly, it...

Update: Leak in Head Discharge Line. West Marine Recommends Replacement with More Flexible Line

What type of toilet system? The most common cause for back flow is a worn out joker (duckbill) valve. It is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix. There is a video on the Jabsco web site regarding valve replacement.

If you are serious, the first thing you need to look for is a good marine surveyor. You can't tell a lot from a listing. That said, you should go and take a look but make no commitments unless there is a written agreement that gives you the option of backing out based on a survey. I am not sure...

    I Need a Valve Job

Good luck with the procedure. Hopefully the less invasive procedure works out Did you choose the artificial or the ovine valve? I ask because it may tell me what bait choices you make when fishing:)

    Yamaha shutdown while underway

Yes, definitely stock get a spare and hope it was just a fluke. That fuse should not pop under normal operation and the event may indicate an intermittent short somewhere. Those things can be difficult to locate especially if it is in the harness that runs from the helm to the motor. Also...

GPS / Fishfinder for Adventure 208

By the time you see a forward problem and react, your speed will determine if you avoid the bottom or run aground. Get a plotter with good charts and updates as a general guide and go slow when in shallows. If you are going 10 knots the time to go 20 feet, about the length of the boat is 1...
