    Yamaha shutdown while underway

If the gauge doesn't power up, the motor is not getting a power signal from the helm. Although there is and should be 12V at the starter relay, there is no switched 12v. If the local tilt switch on the cowling works then the motor ground is probably fine also. So the problem is in the harness...

282 interior shelf repair replacement due to rot.

Could very well be the case. Regardless, the cabin bulkhead seems to be rotted and should be looked at

282 interior shelf repair replacement due to rot.

That is more than just a rotted shelf. There are indication of water intrusion on the cabin door bulkhead. That water has leaked onto the shelf and it seems, down into the microwave compartment. What surprises me is that there does not appear to be rust stains around those two bolts on the left

    208 with Yam150 4s_ real world comparisons?

On older hulls, the extra weight will raise the water line. The older hulls were rigged with 2 strokes.

    Horn replacement

This post brings up a question. Other than navigating in the ICW maybe or narrow channels, do you folks really use your horn? I may use mine when coming into the marina if I see a friend on the docks and want to get their attention but other than the first several months of my boating career...

2001 282 outboards motor shaft length question

When I read the question, I originally though it was a kind of dumb question. If a 25 inch motor allowed the cavitation plate to be about level with the keel, a shorter shaft like a 20 would be 5 inches higher and that for a recreational hull would be just awful. It could also result in the...

    Bilge float switch question

Dang....! Well at least my suggestions are still valid. I am going to have to check post dates going forward; There seem to be more of those old posts being wakened up ( or is it woken up?)

GPS / Fishfinder for Adventure 208

I have two 5 inch displays in my electronics box; one I used as the plotter and one as sonar ( it is a combo but I use it only for fishfinder functions) I do not have my VHF radio in the box, it is mounted below the dash. As I and my eyes get older, the 5 inch screens ate a bit harder to see...

    208 with Yam150 4s_ real world comparisons?

Which 200? 6 cyl or inline 4? The 6 cyl 150 may be underpowered for that hull , If it has a hard top, it will definitely be underpowered. If you sea trial, have a passenger load similar to how you would use the boat. If it's normally you and a few buddies, try to simulate that load. The 208 has...

    Bilge float switch question

Note that the 12v feed for auto and manual is different. The auto feed comes directly from the battery and has an inline fuse that you should see near the battery. The manual operation feed is connected to the fuse panel which is powered by the battery switch. If manual works, the pump itself is...

1990 seafarer, needs new rear cup holders and pole light

Some mast lights are easy to find but the longer poles with a bend near the plug may not be. Finding one with to fit your existing base if the light was removable may be harder than finding the whole package, post and base. If your lamp is a straight mast and is non-removable ( but can be folded...

    GW Fuel tanks

Not properly welding or soldering a gas tank can be a fatal mistake. If you do not have experience, don't try iy on a tank that has had gas in it. Vapors stay almost forever and that is a recipe for a bomb. I have seen it. Gas tanks may be filled with water to weld or filled with inert gas like...

    1989 grady white window seals

If you are referring to the gaskets that hold the glass in the frame, you may find something here http://abcrubber.com/1/boat_window_rubber_gasket_seal.html You might try a windshield glass shop. If you have gaps that leak, you can get away with using black RTV or silicon caulk It would help...

    GW Fuel tanks

I would think that stainless would be prone to rusting in a recreational hull. For the record, I have only seem monel on diesels and I didn't know that it was monel. Unlike aluminum, monel will attract a magnet but looks and 'scrapes' like aluminum.
