    300 Marlin Throttle Cable Replacement

If you feel along the sheath of the cable especially near the motor and feel something other than smooth, the internal cable sheath is probably corroded. Same thing goes for bending; If the cable bends OK in most areas but sort of doesn't at a particular spot , that section is also probably...

What Model Grady- White do I have???

It should say on the registration and title. Hopefully you have the title doc. Titles are required in NJ and that boat has an NJ reg number. The extra bad news is that even when you find out the model, you probably will still going to have a heck of a time finding parts if it is that old.

    300 Marlin Throttle Cable Replacement

If you have done the job before, you probably can do it but there are some tricks. Number one is taking apart the control carefully while documenting and taking pictures of everything as you disassemble. Some parts may fall out since some may be held in place by the side covers. You will benefit...

2006 282 Sailfish Fresh Water Fill

If that tank holds 32 gallons, it could take a fairly long time to fill. As a reference, take a 5 gallon pail or similar as long as you know the capacity and fill it with the hose while timing the fill, Let's say a 5G pail take 2 minutes to fill. Your tank would therefore take just over 6...

    2006 Gulfstream

try looking for any printing on the existing cables, If present it will be at one end, maybe the helm, maybe the motor side. The part number will have the length coded in it.

2006 282 Sailfish Fresh Water Fill

Since you didn't see any obvious leaks, let's assume that the tank was filling slower than you expected. That can be due to several factors but one thing I find on my tank is that if I jam a hose nozzle into the fill too far, it kind of blocks the flow. To test that out, fill using a hose with...

    "Bulkhead" between Fuel Tanks

I would guess it is there to prevent the two metal tanks from rubbing against each other and possibly also there to locate the tanks during assembly. I would install some sort of spacer if the old panel is removed. Don't use rubber.

Rotted out screws on live well intake

Might be that simple but until you pull the fitting out and inspect, you can know for sure if there are other issues. The fitting is not held with the screws but rather with a nut on the threaded pipe that connects the strainer fitting to a seacock. Th screws just hold the strainer in alignment...

    Dyeing cushions

I was never able to find out for sure if my cushion covers were washable at all or dry cleanable for that mater. There are no care tags that I can find.

    Effect of Incorrect Spark Plugs

I currently only change my NKGs on my Yami SX about every three years. I used to swap them annually when the motor was newer. I never have had a defective plug in 15 years.

    INTERMITANT STEERING LOSS

I don't think that possibility accounts for a rather consistent 20 second freeze. Sounds more like an auto pilot issue. When the steering 'locks' up, t it hard to turn or impossible to turn? As mentioned, was the auto pilot engaged?

New owner in the Chesapeake Bay Area with trailer question.

Go to the launch ramp that you would use and watch what others have as trailers. Bring lunch, and hang out. it may be entertaining! Really, see what works for other similar sized boats. It will be the best advice you can get.

    INTERMITANT STEERING LOSS

It could be sticking valves but I am not sure especially if it locks up when you try turning both directions. It could be a problem with the steering cylinder or the motor steering hardware or the motor pivot shaft. First thing is, do you have power steering or autopilot?

    Wiring off the battery terminals

Sometimes you will have a stereo preset memory feed and that would be a direct (non-switched) connection. Some CO detectors might also be directly connected. Of course, those connections could be mad at the switch on the battery feed terminal

Yamaha 150trs-175trs-200trs-200txrs - What is this hose for?

Not critical but you don't want it spitting sea water inside the cowling, If it pops off, I would bet it also is spitting water.

    Water pump leak

Overheating at low speed can be a bad pump BUT if the overheat goes away when you speed up the revs, the more likely cause is a stuck open poppet valve. That is the standard test for a bad poppet. The water pump housing is not completely sealed and can spit some water when running. You can...

    Grady 192 live well/wash down

I agree with that approach. The livewell existing pump will be directly connected to the seacock in the bilge. If the boat never had a livewell, there may be a lot of work required to retrofit an existing installation. You will need a seacock if a separate pump is added, you will need plumbing...

    Effect of Incorrect Spark Plugs

Most likely Its the VST tank.. The clue is the symptom when in rougher seas. Your VST tank filter needs to be checked and probably replaced The plugs don't explain the intermittent hesitations. > Although the 7s will wok, next change use the 8s. I can't recall if the 8s are hotter or cooler but...
