    Hull Cleaner: Liquid or gel?

The On-Off works on the hull stain but not on the growth below the water line. For slime you either use anti-fouling paint or power wash frequently. You or someone else can also scrub the hull in the water, fairly common for large vessels but done by divers. With respect to liquids or gels...

    2021 Freedom 215 nav lights

True for the most part but on some models, the backlighting on switches and gauges is enables by the NAV position and not the anchor position.

    2021 Freedom 215 nav lights

Actually I was referring to the suggestion to use battery powered rail mounted nav lights. You would still need a mast light.

    What about the mast light?

New owner in the Chesapeake Bay Area with trailer question.

The main issue is launch water depth but also consider that if you tend to launch and haul by yourself, bunks can be an advantage mainly since it is less likely that the boat will roll backwards off the trailer when hauling. On the other hand, at some ramps, it may be easier to crank a hull up...

    Sacrificial Anode Skeg question.

Its probably a 12mm bolt. The one o'clock setting for the tab is a good place to start. Note that the setting is when looking from under the tab . is that your issue, probably not. Do you have NFB mechanical steering and not hydraulic. What motor do you have? Do you have trim tabs and if so...

    Dive ladder mount plate

Cut a hole the right size to install a deck plate. You may want to rethink the 4in if you have room for a 6 inch.

    Dive ladder mount plate

Thanks but the list doesn't really help answer the question IMHO. More to the point, what do you use for the items I mentioned? Some apps are not obvious. For example when I mount or remount a bracket for a transom transducer I will coat the screws with 5200 or equivalent. 5200 is supposed to be...

    2021 Freedom 215 fuel neck

Probably better than sinking. Like I said, I don't see many if any cases of blocking the fuel. This cap in the tank happens many times especially to boaters with less experience (who have not already lost a cap seal in the fill:)) In many cases, the captain doesn't even realize that the seal...

    Dive ladder mount plate

We go through this discussion a lot on the forum regarding adhesives and sealants. Honestly, I really don't know what is best in some instances. For example, I think we agree that 5200 is appropriate for below the water through hulls. I also feel that it is appropriate for backing plates. Dive...

    2021 Freedom 215 nav lights

I cringe at the thought of painting a new boat, even just the bow area. The challenge is to limit the down facing cone of light so that it doesn't wash the bow with lightbut is still visible by other vessels. I would experiment with some black electrical taps over the bottom edge of the light...

OEM Grady White Beige 1-3/8 x 1/4 Vinyl Trim

I had the same issue in the corners. As the material ages, it apparently shrinks and the corner gets the most strain from the shrinking. Instead of installing new trim, you have two options: Remove the entire strip and reinstall being aware that it will not reach as far back as it originally did...

    Dive ladder mount plate

I don't think the OP plan is to have to remove that bracket after it is reinstalled:)

    2021 Freedom 215 fuel neck

The cap would probably make into the tank but would not get sucked into the engine fuel line for several reasons but basically it wont fit. I doubt that the gas will dissolve the seal but who knows

    Quick Electrical Question

The switch backlight feed is completely separate form the radio power . Therefore if the light is on, the power to the switch is OK but that's about all you can assume. The connection from the switch to the radio could be intermittent as could the ground connection to the radio which is not the...

    2006 Marlin Throttle/Shift cable replacement

Nice work and probably really rewarding. Honestly, did any parts fall out of the control while you were disassembling the cable ends:)

1990 tournament 190 Bunk spacing HELP

It's not a big deal because the hull is light AND because Grady uses solid (not cored) hull construction below the water line.

ECOS , new regulation, status update (with a smile)

Other than the first time I drove my boat and a few days ago, I never used the lanyard either. It serves a good purpose and can reduce boating injuries so I guess I just have to make a point tp add it to my mental checklist.

    Dive ladder mount plate

Note that unlike most caulks, 5200 is a strong and relatively 'permanent' adhesive/sealant. It intended for applications where you don't plan on removing the sealed parts. 3M 4200 is a similar product but is not as strong a bond.In general it is easier to take things apart if needed. There are a...
