    Sign of the times

I bought my 228 G in March from Lockwood at Shellman Bluff and Eric Kelly, who sold me my first Grady from G&G when they were in Edgewater Florida, really does a great job. I was seriously looking at the Tournament 275 with twin f150s which as down in their Jax location, but the financing...

Moving up to Seafarer 228, Engine Advise

Strike, when I was fishing in the Gulf at the begining of the month, we had 2-3 foot seas with chop, my econ dropped to 2.5 to 2.2 mpg. I would love to fish your waters or at the very least meet up with owners like you at the dock afterwards for some boat drinks 8) .... My boat has trim...

Moving up to Seafarer 228, Engine Advise

Took my boat out today based on this thread took some time to be more observant. The boat gets on a plane in that 3 to 4 second range from netural just as Strikezone's does. At 4200 RPM the boat cruised at 29 mph, fuel economy was 3.0 mpg. we had a nearly full tank of gas and 4 people on board...

    Grady Drops Prices - Again!

dooooh, as Homer Simpson says...maybe we should have waited to buy our boat. Got a good deal in March, but it seems maybe a better deal to be had now....oh well....

Is SeaTow Membership Worth the Price?

It is kind of like American Express, don't leave port without it. I live 5 hours away from the ocean and have Sea Tow. I dont have AAA for my car, then again I can always walk if something happens (lol). It is worth having it for my piece of mind. The beauty is if you trailer your boat like we...

    Considering outriggers....looking for suggestions

Hey Guys and Gals: I have a 228 with a hard top and I am considering buying a set of out riggers. That is far as my research has progressed. I will be fishing a few times a year off shore and I run the boat primarily on inland lakes. When fishing recently in the Gulf of Mexico, outriggers...

Moving up to Seafarer 228, Engine Advise

Strikezone, this topic got me thinking. Should all boats go from rest in the water to being on plane in the same amount time? I guess what I am asking is the hole shot for an express 330 the same as our boats? I have not timed it on my boat yet, but with your 225 on your boat, how quick does...

Moving up to Seafarer 228, Engine Advise

We bought a left over 08 228 G that had every option available on it with a hard top. It was powered with the F250, so I can not speak on the 225. I had a 192 with the F150 on it and it was a great boat. it is a very different ride and feel. The holeshot is decent from what I can tell, but...

Fishing off of Cape San Blas - Port St. Joe Fl

Just got back Saturday from a nice vacay in the Fla panhanle. Went fishing offshore 4 times. Never got skunked, had a decent trip, kids enjoyed the bite when it was on. There were no weedlines within 100 miles of the coast according to charter boat guys I spoke with. Normally, the weed lines are...

    228 Model number question...

Well in that case guys...I have a 228 G. Thanks for answers. My day is complete  I wish they made a twin option for this boat....I like to fish offshore when I can and having twins would be nice. Too bad they dont have bracket to hang like twin 115s or something like that. I like the...

So, does the wine take out the "bleachy" taste or does it serve some other purpose? Curious minds want to know....

    Toyota Tacoma Experience?

What model year Tacoma are you considering? I had an 02 with their TRD package 4wd crew cab and the 3.8 liter V6. Never towed anything with it, but we did have a new FJ Cruser with Toyota's 4 liter V6 and we towed our 192 and utility trailer with ease here in the mountains. The 4 liter motor...

    228 Model number question...

This is perhaps one of the simplest questions ever asked here and perhaps meaningless too (lol). I noticed several other 228 owners often put the letter "G" at the end of their boat model number. so is the G variant significant from others? I know Grady has changed the boat over time and it...

    2000 Seafarer 228 G

I have a 228 with the Yammy F250 and yammaha's saltwater series 2 stainless...dont have the pitch memorized, but the boat tops out with my family of 5 on board at 43 and change and while cruising at 30 mph - 4200 rpm, the boat gets 3.1 mpg. I am satisfied with the yammaha prop.

    Question about the Tournament 225!

My old Grady was the 192 and it was a fantastict lake boat. The 225 is on the same hull as 228 which we bought in march. While the 228 is a bit more heavy than the 225, which we seriously considered, it handles much different than our 192. The 228 does not turn like a ski boat at all and I can...

    deck screws and wood

Thanks a bunch guys. When we get home from our trip, I will get this project going. I never thought about the holes needing resin, but it makes a lot of sense. :) I am big on preventative maintenance...an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It does make me wonder why this is not...

No wonder dealers are going out of business

Bama, Maybe take short drive to the Grady dealer in Carabell, Florida? Passed them on the way here to Cape San Blas. I live in the mountains of NC and bought my boat from Lockwood Marine in Shellman Bluff Ga, south of Savannah. It is a 6.5 hour drive to get the boat...but I know the sales...

    deck screws and wood

I have a question about all those screws on the deck. The posts on the wood rot caused by all those screws has me concerned. My boat is kept under cover on a trailer and from about October to March she is not used very much at all in the Smoky Mountain winters. Of course this does not mean rot...

    Introduction

Hey Yall: I have owned a Grady White in some form or another since 2002. We bought a used 192 then and recently traded it for a new 2008 leftover Seafarer 228 fully loaded with all the bells the whistles. I really like how the boat handles and have fished it off of east central Florida and now...
