    20' vs 22'

We upgraded from a GW 192 to the 228 G equipped with a F250 and hardtop. I did notice a ride difference between the 192 which is a tad bigger than your current boat to the 228. I have never riden in a 208 nor have I seen one in person or at the dealer. I am 5.5 and have 3 kids from ages 8 to 13...

    Mounting Under Gunwale Speakers

We installed polyplanar box speakers in the corners in the cockpit on the cabin wall and added speakers to the cabin itself. My kids are ages 8 to 13 and the cabin is used alot. I thought about mounting them where the spreader lights are like Strike did, but opted for the less harsh environment...

GPS shuts down on starting outboard

I agree with Seasick and others. My 192 started to have this problem and corrosion was the culprit on the control switches and wiring harness connections/joints. We had to rewire a couple connections and clean the contacts on all the others. Do not under estimate how corrosion will effect both...

    GPS

I have a Garmin 4208 in my 2008 Seafarer. It is mounted on the gimble inside the ebox and there is ample room behind it for the GPS sounder module and network stuff Garmin now uses. I purchased the G2 Vision charts for the rivers and lakes southeastern US and will be buying the chart set next...

    NSB / Edgewater Grady Dealer?

Yeah I bought my first Grady from them when they were G&G and Mike Gotfried owned it....I met the new owners of Play Two Twilla and John at Grady Club function or two..really great people. Dont know the story...but perhaps the economy took its toll....Eric at Lockwood Marine in Shellman Bluff...

228 - Rooster tailing off the pod onto the outboard

Mine does this at lower speeds and trimming helps as well using the tabs. We have a thru-hull ducer so it is not that. I have observed it is in that middle speed about 15-20 mph where it occurs the most. I will experiment next time on the water with trim of the motor to see where it is reduced.

    Sea Anchor

I have been thinking about a sea anchor for safety and understand the deployment off the bow to keep it pointed into the wind/waves should we lose power. Could you explain how deploying it off the stern to keep a wave broaching the stern? As a side note to my question... I have long wanted...

    What should I do?

My two cents is to bring it back. If you wish to have proof, do what others say and the engine's diagnostics should be able to prove it. Also, did the owner who had the guages replaced do so at the same dealer you bought it from? Does owner have any reciepts of the repair and the costs so on...

    Keeping fresh water.... fresh

My advice would be to sanitize it like an RV using the 1 ounce to 10 gallons rule. While I do not drink the water from the onboard supply, it is freshwater and emergencies can arise. One day folks may need to drink the water and it is better to have it there ready for consumption than not. Just...

    22 to 228 ride dif.

You know this is one thing I like about Grady. They measure their boats using the mold length. A 22 footer is a true 22 feet of hull. It stinks marinas and so forth charge for all the "candy". Yeah, if you measure from the pulpit to the back of the engine cowl we have over 26 feet, but it is a...

    22 to 228 ride dif.

Thanks for the insight, altough I am not the original poster. I learned to trim to the motor up a tad to aid in backing down. Thanks :) I will say going to 25 to 27 would be nice. I gotta say though, we went from a 192 to our 228 and it is a noticable difference in performance on the open...

    Lake Hartwell Ga- SC

Thanks...I am not big on being members of a lot forums...just dont have time, but I guess being member does not really require participation.... read a number of posts here where members here do not have a high opinion of the The Hull Truth...I take perhaps the opinion of fellow Grady owners...

    Lake Hartwell Ga- SC

Hey Yall: We are taking a long weekend next week and going to Lake Hartwell (head waters of the mighty Savannah River). Never been there, staying at Tugaloo State Park in Levonia, GA. Is anyone familiar with the region, have any tips on dockside eating, marinas, things to see or do there...

Moving up to Seafarer 228, Engine Advise

BoKat, We mainly go to Fontana, sometimes we make the drive to Chatuge or Santeelah over near Robbinsville... we are going to Lake Hartwell in a week or so for a few days, kind of the last hurrah before school starts. Staying at Tugaloo SP near Lavonia. Kids want to camp and boat.

    22 to 228 ride dif.

So Sea Hunter, what are the ride trade offs between the bracketed boats and non? I am curious. I will say this, I really like the full stern set up on my 228 and we have the full width swim platform which is handy for playing in the water.

    Could Use Some Advise...

My 1998 came with an Ocean Pro 150 carbed. The motor started fine but when it got warm or hot, heaven forbid you turn it off or it die idling, because starting it was a pain. had to replace the power pack twice and had an OMC factory authorize dealer service it twice for stalling. Finally, I was...

    Considering outriggers....looking for suggestions

Thanks everyone. It is a mixed bag on this one. I will check out both the Lees and the Tacos. We will likely have to install them ourselves...not sure too many boat dealers around here in the mountains do this kind of work (lol). Just starting my search. Strikezone, interested in your results...

Water in Gas Warning at 10 hours!

This alarm went off on our boat when we were doing the final sea trial before delivery in April. In the F250 motor there were some faulty sensors according the dealer. They replaced it and have not had the issue since. Perhaps this is all it is?
