Traction options for four legged sailors?

I could see metal grating being an issue - her pads probably stradle the grating sometimes, allowing the vertical section of the grate to poke up into her foot. What KY posted is different, though. It's plastic and has a flatter top section. It'd be cheap enough to buy a few of them and try...

    Short Term Bottom Protection

I've left my unpainted boats in the water for a solid two weeks with no growth. But that is on the coast of Maine. The warmer the water, the quicker things grow. There can also be a siginficant difference in the geopgrpahic area due to local water conditions/current/etc. I personally have...

    Water in diesel tank

Sip, it's very easy to figure out if your vent is integrated to the fill. Is there a thru-hull vent near the fill? Vents are always close by to the fill. If not, it's integrated. You can double check, if you want, by looking inside the fill. But vents are never located somewhere else.

Standard auxiliary power outlet vs. USB charging outlet

Just something to be aware of using tablets... -- Tablets can, and do, overheat sometimes in the sun... and then they turn off. -- Their screens are not "sunlight readable". Meaning, it can be very difficult to see what's on the screen in certain conditions. -- They're not usually waterproof...

    2020 Freedom 235 Hardtop

Don't know exactly, but somewhere around 300lbs is probably about right. Go with 500lbs to be on the safe side or give Grady a call... or ask your salesman to find out? Your salesman may even know, already.

    My latest update

Some of the blades flopped back the right way during the turning of the driveshaft. The others may have done the same thing in short time... maybe not.

    Gulfstream deck panel repair

Polyester is just fine - that's the most common resin used in mass production boat building. Epoxy is heavier and costlier and while it's stronger, it really offers no strength benefit in this scenario. That said... poly is smelly and harder to work with. I stopped using poly years ago. Your...

    Advise on floor panel rework...

Your welcome. There's so much information out there that you'll probably easily answer your questions. But if you still get stuck/confused, don't hesitate to ask.

    Advise on floor panel rework...

If you're comfortable with this type of work, it's pretty straight forward. There have a been a few of us, at least, on this forum that have done it - if you try searching for threads, you can probably find them. There's also tons of info on the net that you can find with some searching - it...

    Transom replacement

The bond between the transom and the deck - that back edge/corner - sort of the "inside" of where the bang plate is... that joint is not strong enough. It should be reinforced on the inside of that joint better to prevent it "popping" apart to begin with.

What the heck happened here? Why did this guy delete his post? Was it offensive? You guys put a lot of effort into your responses and now it seems all for not?

    Transom replacement

Don't stress over it. There's really nothing to prepare for - IF it becomes an issue, then you can look into options. There's really nothing to be gained by spending your time and effort looking into this now. All it can do is cause you to be worrying about it every time you're boating. If...

    Transom replacement

For the most part, all transom replacements are about the same - regardless of model or even brand. But, if it's good, it's good. Keep it that way and you'll "be good" for a long, long time. Why do you feel it WILL be a problem? There's no reason to think that it will go bad if you take care...

    Adventure - replacment forward cupholders

Are they screwed in? Can you just move them up a few inches? Otherwise, what kind of cupholders have you found at stores or by googling that you like? Seems like an easy area to mount whatever you want. Maybe even one of those kinds with a small cubby attached for small items.

Deck drain inserts - where to find replacement part?

I like the simple solutions - sometimes they are the best. Glad you got an easy/cheap solution... we don't always get the "cheap solutions" working around boats!

water in bilge of 1999 sailfish..scupper problem?

It could be a number of things, but yes. What's the condition of the hoses? Is it salt water or fresh water (taste it, if need be). Dry the bilge out completely, observe closely. Paper towels placed in key areas can help if it's a slow leak.

Helm Seat Height...and other seat discussions

A cheap way to do this is to use wood to make a spacer under the seat between it and the slider. That extender looks nice - I see there's a locking bolt to keep it from spinning, but does the extender fit tightly (no wobble)?
