    Thru Hull Drains - Sources

Easy peasy? Just ask your dealer to get you the stuff. If it's a dealer that has a "parts store", they can get the stuff through their suppliers, as opposed to through Grady, to save you a few bucks. If you know your sizes, and want to go online, try a place like Jamestown Distributors. All...

    windlass failure

Yeah, definitely don't use 5200! It's amazing how often this gets recommended on forums for simple "sealing" jobs... but I attribute that to lack of knowledge and then people keep on recommending it because they saw someone else recommended it. I also wouldn't use 4200 - still too strong - but...

    330 windshield wiper washer tank?

Doesn't it just use whatever is in your fresh water tank? And there's usually a little valve, or something, at the helm that you open to turn on the washing fluid (fresh water) along with having your fresh water system pressurized? Double check me, though - look in your owner's manual (or...

228 Seafarer Yamaha 250hp outboard sits low in water

Something else is going on. Like a lot of water in the bilge, for example. There's no way that the few inches of vertical adjustment of the bracket holes will drop the motor hood anywhere near the waterline. Plus, there is no way that a dealer would set it up THAT wrong, even if they could -...

    New owner - quick question

Should you decide to go larger, I've towed with quite a few d-max's - that truck would EASILY handle a 26' (and larger).

    New owner - quick question

Yup - that helped! It's funny... how something as obvious to most of us, can be lost on some owners. It's like saying I own a Chevy F150. Well, not quite, but you get the point. Just make sure you get a REALLY good surveyor to check the boat out. Good hull - very capable... for it's...

    Suzuki

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Half! Saved me a lot of typing! Yes, cav and vent are VERY often confused/misused. The height issue is the first one I would think of, as well. How far back is the engine from the aft end of the running surface of the hull bottom (typically where the...

    New owner - quick question

Some owner's don't know what they got. I assume you've seen pictures or have a link to an ad? Post that. You can also check the HIN - Grady's code is NTL. I think by '95, the Seafarer would have the SeaV2... but go to Grady's website and download an archived brochure to double check.

    Tiger Cat Propellor Selection

I don't own a Tigercat, but for the most part, propping a boat is propping a boat is propping a boat. The first thing you need to do is get data. You NEED to go full out on a relatively calm day and trim it out best you can. That will give you the true Max RPM. Do this with your normal load...

Delaminated Bulkhead and Painted Trim Completed

Doing the frame could look good, too. On the other hand... if you keep going with your original plan, you can live with it for a while and if you decide to change it, it's just paint! I'm gonna join you...

Delaminated Bulkhead and Painted Trim Completed

Looks nice. I like the texture you got from the roller. Subtle things like that help to keep it from being "sterile" looking. On that note... what do you think about painting the louvers a shade or two darker? Not a lot - just enough to subtly change the look. Just a thought.

Delaminated Bulkhead and Painted Trim Completed

Well, the reason to change would be to improve upon the design. However, if it was my boat, I would probably go with wood, as well. Right now my boat is 38 years old and still has the original wood. If I replaced it today with wood, and got another 38 years out of it... I'm sure my son or...

Delaminated Bulkhead and Painted Trim Completed

Yes, but... you would still get water/moisture wicking it's way into the plywood. Obviously, not as bad as if the wood was directly on the floor. The important part is to fully and completely seal the bottom edge of the wood.

Delaminated Bulkhead and Painted Trim Completed

Here's another random idea if you choose to go with plywood... One of the biggest problems with the way that Grady originally did is running the plywood so close to the floor whereby it would wick moisture up into it. 4 to 5 coats of epoxy soaking into the end grain will pretty much turn that...

Delaminated Bulkhead and Painted Trim Completed

If you want to pursue the plastic... No, I wouldn't expect the run of the mill box stores to carry it. You might get lucky at a real lumber yard - possibly a real hardware store. Also check with local marinas/boat stores as they would have suppliers to order from. An online place like...

    Wooden Grady White Identification

Download the brochure from Grady's site and look through it. I looked (quickly) and it "looks like" that outboard transom edge (the left and right sides of the transom board) has a curve to it, whereas in the brochure, the boats look like that edge is much straighter. But that could just be...

Delaminated Bulkhead and Painted Trim Completed

Some other thoughts for Starboard... this is the brand name for HDPE. Other manufacturer's make this stuff, too. Taco Marine, for example. You may also be able to order through a company like McMaster Carr (but shipping may be pricey for the sizes you need). Another product to check into is...

2004 282 gas caps to main and aux tank location

So... am I understanding correctly (based on what's in this thread so far) that regardless of which tank is forward (whether main or aux), that the forward fill is connected to the forward tank? I mean, that would make sense... but I don't want to assume. It would be kind of riduculous to...
