    Advice on selling my GW

My line of thinking is that if a boat was neglected, no amount of spit & polish is going to bring it back and the neglect will show and be evident on close inspection. I use my boat for pleasure, fish my boat, lobster with it, etc., etc., etc. BUT... I take really great care of it. Care = all...

    Advice on selling my GW

I mostly & respectfully disagree with this assertion. IMO.. if an older boat was neglected, it will show even after a good detailing. One thing I would watch out for is "fresh" paint that was slapped on to cover up rust, corrosion, etc. Further, maintenance & service records are an important...

    Backing into slip + fenders

303 is a really good vinyl protectant to help stave off dirt, mold and UV damage.

    Backing into slip + fenders

I would care for them as I would for the vinyl in the boat (e.g. spray with 303 Marine Protectant). Also, if you are seasonal, I would remove them for the winter and store them indoors (or out of the sun & weather).

    Vinyl striping

Hi, I realize these have been sold, but I have a request. Would you be kind enough to ask the buyer to send a PM to me? (I'd like to see if he can send a few inches of the 2 1/8 to me, if he isn't going to need all of it.) Thank you. Regards, J

No. The broker will not pay for anything other than advertising.

    Advice on selling my GW

adding some additional commentary When I sold my last boat (2012 Hydra-sports Vector 22'; sold in 2021), it was in winter storage (heated warehouse). When I put the boat away, it was 100% detailed and had no gear on board. A father and his two adult sons took one look at it (January 2021) and...

    Advice on selling my GW

I think brokers get 10% - 15%. If you are close to the boat, then I would recommend going FSBO. You may already know or intend to do the following, but a little reinforcement never hurt. I would take all of the gear off the boat, then give the boat a really thorough cleaning and then a full...

    Hypothetically..would you rather

Hi, Apologies in advance for all of the parentheticals. I bought my 2012 Hydra-sports 22' in 2017 (I was 51). In 2020, I decided to upgrade to something in the 26'-28' range, but a buddy suggested I go to 30'+. In 2021 (I was 55), I sold the Hydra-sports and decided to buy a super clean, low...

    Additive to gas tank

2022 Season: I burned through ~= 750 gallons of gas. Additives added: $285 to my fuel bill (RF+ $188 & Stabilizer $97) Maybe I threw $285 away and maybe I didn't. I know one thing and that is that I did my best to maintain my motors and should issues arise, I won't second guess them being due...

"As for JJF's post, I based this number based on repair manuals that give you the ratio of thickness of glass to the amount of angled exposure each side of joint to lay up new glass." This makes total sense.

I have zero experience replacing a transom, so my opinion isn't worth much at all, but three inches doesn't seem like much space to work with...

    Additive to gas tank

Hi, I use both of Yamaha's fuel additives religiously. They are: 1) Ring Free Plus (1 oz per 10 gallons of gas) and 2) Fuel Stabilizer & Conditioner (1 oz per 3 gallons of gas). See table below. I have this in Excel, if you want a copy; just send me a PM with an email address. Gallons RF+...

    Charging a battery

"The only items left powered with switches off are the bilge pump(s) and the stereo memory and possibly, as on my 330, the VHF FM marine radio. I wired the VHF in case of a switch failure and the need to contact USCG or other assistance." This is the most correct setup; just need to remember...

What's on your list for winter projects?

"PB Blaster wont corrode or damage anything like caulk or silicone?" Not sure. Perhaps Marvel Mystery Oil would be ok.. https://marvelmysteryoil.com/

What's on your list for winter projects?

^^ my 2018 has stainless deck drains for the seacock level...I would suggest something like PB Blaster and "exercising" the seacock regarding the bloody knuckles... HEXARMOR gloves are great; you can actually do work while wearing them... see link below...

    2021 & 2022 Freedom 285 engines & optional equip questions

It's not so much the manufacturer making the choices, but more so the buyer. If I were you, I would try to get a test drive on a PURSUIT. They are very good boats and you may want to keep the 285 DC on the list.
