Hello everyone, First test couple days ago, 2000 Marlin,225 Yamaha 4.2L , prop 15 1/2 by 17 pitch , two people, 60 gal fuel, no water, 300’ chain, six batteries, crab pot puller ,down- riggers,43.2knots@5800rpm 26.1 knots @ 3700rpm 14.7 gph. Not much gear thinking of purchasing 15 1/2 by 15...

Sorry about your motors, have 2000 Marlin put my 2016 Yamaha 225 4.2L on it from my Sailfish. The 225 have 300 powerheads pretty much the same power up to 5000 rpm, so you just lose some top end. Up to 250 hp on those motors you can use 87 grade fuel.Love the fly by wire. Thanks

If you haven’t finished yet, use fiberglass fish tape. My new to me 2000 Marlin had 10 gauge wire to windlass, just fished #4 to windlass from port side. Thanks

Is the Marlin already bow heavy? just don’t know what else to do. Need larger wires to windlass, so moving batteries forward would be easier to pick up bow thruster and small inverter.The Sailfish needed weight forward, with all that chain still needed a lot of trim down. Thanks

I think your motors are 4.2L same as mine, my motors were new when I purchased them. They were on my 1994 Sailfish, move to Marlin where I’m installing now. Pick 225 twins because the max hp for Sailfish was 450 hp, your boat must fly with that power. Hoping I get quick to plane and good...

Thanks for reply, boat is getting close to getting in the water. My motors are fly by wire, has good display will post results. Hoping the 4.2 L has the the low end for a quick plane, plan on always carrying full fuel and gear , just the miles l go offshore. Thanks
