Hi, 1) I have a 306 with a battery charger. From my reading of the owner's manual and as I understand it, the boat's 12V system is only powered by the batteries. I believe the 110V charger charges the batteries when/while the 12V system is in use. I don't believe there is a 110V distribution...

ok; IMO, using it underway (at speed) may be an issue if you don't go with something designed by a shade manufacturer and having a very sturdy frame. If you are handy and if you just want shade when you are stationary, then I would suggest making something that hangs from the t-top and uses...

OP, are you looking for a full enclosure or a simple shade?

I would recommend either transporting yourself or using only a transporter who specializes in moving boats. There are plenty of them on the East coast.

Yesterday, a Yamaha tech was telling me about this exact issue on a 336 with trips...the electronics at the steering ram could be the issue. I am assuming this is different than the SCM; if it's the same, then please disregard, as you are already aware of it. Good luck with it.

Personally, I think you made the right decision going new. I don't see a down side. You are either good for the next ten years or if you sell the boat, the repower will be very attractive to buyers. This is especially true given the cost of a new 306. Just my $00.02.
