A few newb questions about batteries...

Your single engine Grady will have the standard setup of a 1/Both/2/OFF Battery switch. Your batteries are 24M which means they are Marine "Starting" batteries. As mentioned above, they may have some Reserve capacity similar to a 24DP (Dual Purpose). Dual Purpose batteries are a compromise...

Got out Tuesday to the Triple Wrecks area. The fleet was 10 miles past the Haskell. We got there late 8 am. Chunked one nice yellowfin quick and then we sucked the rest of the day. Many boats had 3,5,10.... The mahi pots in the Chicken were barren. The Glory pots were not very good but we did...

    REPOWER

They only made 265s from 2000 to 2005. The OP has the newest one. I don't think there would be any point in trying to find a repowered 265. Repower is $40k. brand new motors/fly by wire/gauges..

    REPOWER

You can't get a new boat similar to a 265 Express for anywhere near the cost of a repower, new tanks, new canvas, new electronics. I understand your desire for fresh motors. If your motors run they are worth a good deal of money to someone and that will offset some of the repower cost. If you...

    New Electronics

plenty of info here for your 265 https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/265-x-flat-panel-dash.31837/ 12" screens will involve cutting the fiberglass helm box opening. You can get two 12s in there but with no room for anything else. I opted to put my engine gauges up on the flat instead of another...

    Has anyone weighed a 265?

Assuming you own it...I would be inclined to keep the old ride for towing/trashing about, and let the Admiral spend on a blinged up smaller SUV. I have a boat and a slip and a 2 seat Transit Connect utility van. The Admiral got this..

    Has anyone weighed a 265?

I would assume they don't include the hardtop in the listed dry weight. From experience i can tell you its heavier than you would think... My estimation was "get a dock, call the guy to haul it twice." It really isn't a "trailerable" boat. For short 15 mile hauls, no hills, the marina...

Went looking for yellowfins out near Texas Tower. Nothing. Passing through Glory pots on the way out at first light. I had to try one pot... got this bull & cow while holding two rods as we passed the first pot! Ended up becoming a canyon Mahi/Tilefish trip...as many of our tuna dreams become....

Need some advice about malfunctioning GT56UHD transducer

Are the red lines on the screen just a photo problem? or are they actually there? Since it is telling you that it cannot detect a transducer on the 8-pin connector, I would check that connection. But I think a GT56 is a 12 pin...no? I think your Garmin has a 12pin and an 8pin sonar port. Is...

    330 Express Gas Cap lost

you need to know if the original cap is vented or not. It probably is. You have another tank so you have another gas cap to look at. If you mistakenly use a nonvented cap you will have problems. newer model boats may have a closed fuel system and a non-vented cap.

    Lee Jr outrigger pole guides

maybe... but I've never seen Lee rigger poles that didn't screw together...except the telescoping ones... Various size poles with various bases. You have to match poles and bases.

    Lee Jr outrigger pole guides

I don’t know what brand poles you have. I wouldn’t go drilling holes in the middle of the pole the holes in mine are where they overlap and insert into each other. If you drill holes in the pole, it’s going to break there. my poles are definitely Lee’s brand 18 ft to fit Lee wishbone juniors

    Lee Jr outrigger pole guides

They don't have guides in every hole. they skip every other... I take them apart into 3 sections where its just screws for winter storage. They are 1/4-20 if I remember right. I got the screws and the threaded "spacer" thing from hardware places. If i didn't have CRS I would be able to tell you...

Water level - scuppers - new engine

Even if the thruhulls are completely underwater... if the thru hulls are sealed to the hull and the hoses don't leak and the connection of the hose/hose barb/elbow to the deck drain doesn't leak and the deck drain is sealed to the deck then the only place water could go is on deck. you...

We were out Monday at the spot off Seaside Heights. Jigging squid and putting them out live. We got about a 60 pound bluefin to the boat and broke off the leader. Quite a few fish were caught. One boat fought and boated a 67 incher after 2+ hours on the wrong rod... We had him on the the...

Water level - scuppers - new engine

My point is that you should not add weight to fix having too much weight. Adding weight puts more boat below the waterline. Shifting or moving weight may accomplish something very useful. Your experiment moved bodies. yes, there is a pivot point. Yes, in some displacement hulls adding ballast is...

Decent forecast for Sat thru Monday, at least inshore/midrange. Unfortunately I can't do a full day except maybe Monday. Charter guys at my dock are crushing YFT "40 to 60miles east(out of Manaquan inlet)- across Mud hole"... "you gotta find the whales" . Popping and jigging. 40 is a gamble...
