Good point, my concern is being asleep in the cabin, alarm at the helm might not be loud enough to wake me up. It is simple to wire, so I think I'll go with two alarms, with sensor in both the forward bilge and aft bilge.

One of the surveyor's comments was I need to add a bilge high water alarm to my 282. So, anyone have suggestion on a easy to install high water alarm, and where to mount it (how high is high)?

A little update, as I was contemplating Simrad vs Garmin, I recalled that I had a new in box transducer that came with my last Lowrance. I didn't use it as I already had a transducer on the boat. The transducer is the TotalScan all in one transom mount model. It works with Lowrance and Simrad...

Nope, just one transducer hooked to the GSD22 and it's the transom mount that is laying in the bilge..

Yeah that is something I will be doing, right now I'm just trying to find out the best way to get one graph and transducer on the boat. Then as money allows I will add the other components that I want.

That is an option, just not sure I like the idea of a transom mount on this boat.

The survey was back in August, we've owned the boat since Sept. He explained it pretty much as I did in the original post. The transom is not the issue, it is at the mounting points of the trim tab. The drill bit is a good idea, I'll give it a try when I pull the mounting screws, thank you.
