I recently picked up a 1989 259G Trophy Pro with the original Grady bracket. I'm not sure how many previous owners, but the boat has gone through some modifications, the cabin removed and it is now a center console. All bolts between the grady bracket and the transom are snug but there is a gap between the upper corners of the bracket and the transom. There is definite curvature in the transom wall while the bracket appears square. The transom is solid and in great shape, probably safe to assume it was rebuilt being a 30 yr old boat. The question is, does anyone know if that boat originally had some curvature in the full transom wall? It just doesn't seem like the bracket is drawn up the way it should be.
Thanks for any thoughts.

I would first take some accurate pictures showing the curvature. Don't rely on the bracket - use a straight edge. Then contact Grady directly and have an email ready to go, along with your boat info - including HIN. Might as well go to the source on this for the most accurate information.

Now, for fun, I'm going to make a guess. I assume you're talking about the transom bowing out when measured from top to bottom. That does not sound right to me. There could be some water intrusion/rot in there that expanded. Freeze damage somewhere along the line could have caused that, too. How does the transom sound when knocking on it with your knuckle or the edge of a nickel? Compare the sounds throughout the whole transom. In saying all this, it does not necessarily mean a death sentence - more investigation is needed to determine that.

Its a very gentle curvature from side to side. Its not a bulge or swelling. I believe the transom was rebuilt because of how good all the glass work looks on the inside. I'm thinking it was rebuilt that way, I just don't know if it was originally built that way. The transom sounds and feels rock solid.
I had a 1986 259 Trophy Pro in 1986, but it was a cut out transom with outboards, no reference point for this issue.
I have attempted to contact Grady, but haven't spoken to anyone that can actually give me any insight yet.
I will get a straight edge across it and get some good pics.

The transom on my '93 Sailfish was flat.

That's the Springfield bracket that just has bolts along the sides and bottom, right?
