I'm looking at replacing the factory props on my Yamaha F250 TXR's and was looking for some feedback, info, intel, etc on performance numbers. I'm curious about going to a 4 blade maybe 19" but really don't know the overall best way to go. I appreciate the help!

Check out the Prop Gods

Then as a follow up give them a call to discuss your specific needs and goals

I believe if your motors are the older 3.3 L or the newer 4.2 L they will have different gear ratios and turn the prop at different speeds at any given engine rpm. I would take that into consideration when talking to prop experts.

What do you expect to accomplish with new props? Write it down before you talk to Prop Gods.

I swapped my 3-blades for 4-blades and dropped 2" of pitch. Remarkable improvement in mid-range performance. No loss of top end. Fuel economy wasn't a priority so I can't tell you if it changed. Exactly what I wanted.

Know what your goals are.

What do you have? 15.5 dia x17" pitch? What is max RPM?

Do you mean go 4 blade or maybe go up to 15.5dia X 19"?

General rule of thumb is drop 2" of pitch to switch to 4 blades (assuming same diameter) in order to stay in the max RPM range.

What are you trying to fix?

4 blades generally help heavy, wide boats and boats that operate in ugly seas and boats that don't need to go over 40mph ... Like a 330 Express...

They provide more stern lift which may get you up on plane faster and allow you to stay on plane at a slower speed.
They give you more thrust in reverse and at trolling speed
They have more drag and will usually max out at a slower speed at WOT. They can reduce your mpg slightly at higher speeds.

Years ago (like 6?) I converted from 3 blade to 4 blades on my then F250 powered 330 (2005 TXR's in 3.3L).

Specifically, I went with 4 blade 16" pitch Offshore props by PowerTech.
These props have a 15.25 diameter. For reference, part # OFS416P-CLYX200.

I then repowered to F300's last July. Using the same props on the 300's.
I have been very satisfied with these props on my 330.
The four blade delivered what I was looking for: more torque at the low end and stronger power plowing through swells while cruising. At cruise, I get on average just a tad below 1 statute mile per gallon (or .87 nautical MPG).
Cruise with the F250's was between 22-24 knots. Cruise with the F300's is now 26-28 knots.
Both of the above at 4,300-4,400 RPM's with WOT at 5,600 to 5,800 RPM's.

IMHO, anything over a 16 pitch will lug your engine. I know a guy with an identical 330 as mine with F300's and he has the same 4 blade props as me but in 14 pitch. He is happy with the 14's. I tried a set of 15 pitch 4 blades and didn't like them with the F300's. They seemed to over rev the 300's. Went back to my 4 blade 16's. All good for me now...
