I have a 2009 Grady 33 Express and I recently lost my 22lb Delta anchor in the Bahamas.I replaced it with a 35lb Delta which fits the bow pulpit very well.I am just concerned that it may be overkill for the boat .I am checking to see if any other owners of the same boat have upgraded to a 35lb to make sure that it doesn’t put too much strain on the bow pulpit and windlass.Appreciate your comments.

I've had a 22 lb. Delta on my 2003 Express on the West Coast. I have 50 ft of chain and 300 ft of line. Never had an issue, but you may have more extreme conditions. Can't answer the question on stress to your other components.

If I had a 33 express I would get a 35 delta. Its a big boat and you're not pulling the anchor, the windless is.

I had a 22lb delta on my 20' boat. 35 seems like a more appropriate size. better holding power for a better nights sleep is always a good thing IMO

Actually, a 22lb Delta is way overkill for a 20' boat and still WELL within it's limits for only a 30-ish foot boat. But it can never hurt to bigger :)

A few things: check the ratings on your windlass to make sure it will support that anchor, if not you will blow the fuse and usually at the worst possible time. Also, holding power has a lot to do with the length of chain you use, and amount of rode you set out, this keeps the angle of the anchor down and buried properly.

On Lewmar's website, you are in the range of boat size for the 35lb anchor.
