damn, over $10k per foot? that is insane in that length range. no 23 ft boat is worth even half that in my opinion...

From my experience last year ordering a boat, it was ~$6,000 premium to upgrade a mechanical engine to digital controls and steering. That doesn’t account for the HP upgrade to a 350.
As to trailers, list price for a Venture Commander series was $6,800 for a Grady 215 in June of 2023. With inflation since then and likely a higher capacity trailer for the 235, the trailer price may be just current list.

Just a quick read shows that labor got charged twice on job #5. And on job #6, 24 feet of red battery cable was $74.40, and 24 feet of black was $4,783.92. I would be giving that invoice a close inspection.

Yeah, I saw that cable price....

OP, there has to be more than one GW dealership in the Houston area. Shop around. A well-equipped 235 shouldn't cost more than $200K. Mine was $180K last year. Your quote has a much heavier electronics package and a trailer, but other than that it's pretty much the same boat as mine.

6 hours just to install the Garmin MFD and 3 hours for the transducer, another 7 hours for the radio and 5 hours for the radar? Also, on the trolling motor, it looks like they charged you twice for the hours at 8 hours times two? I again can't imagine that it would take a dealership 16 hours to install a trolling motor and batteries, but goodness, these guys are insane lol.

$34 just for a tube of 3M 5200? You can get a tube of that online for half the price or less. These guys seem like they're tacking on a ton of additional surcharges for I'm sure just basic parts and shop materials.

Grady dealers are bound by contract to only sell to buyers that reside in their exclusive territories. They’re not going to risk losing a premium line to poach a single boat in to another dealers territory.

I think if your going new, you really have to locate a non-current new boat or wait until the fall when the dealer has a decision to make - sell now at a discount or wait and take a chance on a non-current boat next year. The new boats start coming in July as I recall. A bit of a wait and see with some risk, but prob the best way to play. Plus if the economy slows, you'll have a nice tailwind.

Might want to check out the Boston Whaler Vantage 240, the Pursuit 246, and the Scout Dorado 240. All comparable to the Freedom 235. If you are in that $200K-ish range, might want to check out other brands as well. I considered all of these. It was a tough choice. The Vantage 240 is really nice. That was a very close 2nd for me. Probably the sportiest looking one of the bunch.

They work together well but when push comes to shove, you can work deals out of area. One risk is your local dealer being sore if you want them to service your boat. There are subtle things that can be done if they want to hold it against you. Just remember, a new boat is a used boat once you leave the dock. Timing, available inventory, economic conditions, financing all are factors. Everybody that wants a boat is looking for the next 2-3 months hard. It will slow once the season wanes. I think that there are going to be several considerations here... such as where you live, the dealer you're working with, the time of the year and so forth. Which is exactly why I buy used boats on the east coast as they're about half the price, or sometimes even less than that. I'm not sure what size of trailer you purchased, that being said a Venture Commander COM-6000 can be found for less than $6,000 in Florida and elsewhere throughout the country. I'm not sure if that's the exact size/style of trailer that would be necessary for a Grady White 235 Freedom, but it gives you a rough figure as to their worth and is $2,500 less than what this dealership is selling whatever trailer comes with their boat for. It also looks like Load Rite's version that is similar to the Venture trailer is also around that $6k price range. Not that those are the exact trailers that the dealership would sell, but it gives you a ballpark figure. Lastly, from what I can see on the most recent MSRP list from Yamaha, the difference between an F300 mechanical vs an F300 with digital or fly by wire controls is almost exactly $2k. Per their sheet, an F300XA is $29,230, which is their standard gray colored F300 with the 25" shaft and mechanical controls. Whereas their F300XCB is $31,290, which is their standard gray colored F300 with the 25" shaft and digital or fly by wire controls. Which is why I always suggest shopping around and finding the best deals possible, as there are many different factors with regards to pricing and so forth.

Agreed like the BW as well and it is a close second for sure.

Will shop around for sure as much as we want a boat this season we won’t take a bath.
