I finally could not "wait another season". Old first coat from PO years ago has been getting flaky under all of my coats.
Had a lot of barnacled spots.
Mobile blasting was $50 a foot...$1350. Nice clean job, well done. Took about 4 hours with all the prep and wrap up.

Will paint a barrier coat of 2 part Epoxy primer before the antifouling paint. Either Interlux 2000 or Total Boat.
Have to wait for warm weather in the spring. Probably going to delay my launch well into May/ early June.

Had the marina sand mine last year 98 208 two coats of epoxy , hard coat of red then two coats one light blue then dark interlux csc $ 4K
 
Last time I used Interprotect, it was a 6 coat process with specific ties between coats and application of bottom paint. The job took a day and a half:)
 
I used two coats of Petit Protect primer, and then two coach of Hydrocoat. Hydrocoat is a lot easier to work with year to year.

Are you going to go with ablative anti-fouling paint?
 
I will do 3(or more) expoxy coats to get the barrier thickness to spec. Then follow with 2 coats of ablative bottom paint. 3 if it needs it for coverage.

I will never use hard paint again. (FYI, the POs original hard paint is what was flaking...)

Biggest benefit of ablative is you can delay launch. You can even paint in fall and launch in spring.
You can pull and trailer and launch again.
Hard paint will oxidize out of water and use up all the copper. You will see it turn green. It will stop working.

I usually use West Marine CPP but I might try Total Boat Spartan. Might just get everything from Total Boat...
 
I like that your guy controlled the dust. I had bottom paint removed off an Edgewater and they used orbital sanders with 150 grit. I didn’t notice it when I picked the boat up, but when I put a removable cushion back in the boat it was plain to see that sanding dust had stained all the upholstery.
I worked on it for days and never could get it back to the original white.
 
The hull bottom looks great. Do you plan to do your own painting in the spring? Good planning to lay down the drop cloth before blocking the boat!

That was all done by the guy. He spent an hour masking and laying down sheeting and taping it.
Very methodical. It all rolled up into manageable sacks to pick up and take away with him. In NJ, Lodato mobile sandblasting
