So I took the old 2001/2005 - 225 Yamaha four stokes off my 2000 265 express and put 2019 twin 300 Suzuki’s on it and to my cabin thats 37 miles down the canal it took 68 litres of gas doing 30-32 knots and with the old motors it was 105 litres. It’s crazy the difference it’s almost $50 an hour I’m saving in fuel almost makes it worth the $65,000 in motors lol.

Hope that this continues for you. Sounds excessive, but in the right direction. If so, as you say that is impressive. Let us know if the performance sticks. A guy near me had twin 300s Suzukis on a 330 and he loved the engines. Good luck with them.

I have ran a 300 Suzuki on my old boat for 6 years and ran it hard my old 24’ boat did 63 mph and I would run it at 55mph all the way to the cabin I love the Suzuki engines they are the way to go.

My buddy has the 350 dual prop on his 33 express and it’s unreal.

On the nice days on the water ive been at 4200rpm I was burning 82 litres an hour doing 35 knots so almost 40mph. Compared to the old engines there is no comparison in my mind.

Can never go wrong with more HP on a boat! For comparison sakes, though, it's not exactly apples to apples. You went from 450HP to 600HP - to compare Yamaha vs Suzuki with that type of HP increase is not legitimate. But what it does show is what many of us long time boaters know - increasing HP will often decrease fuel usage at cruise speed.

Coming from more of a stern drive background, and very familiar with Merc and Volvo and their dual props, that tech is certainly nothing new. But it's exciting to see OB's starting to use that technology.

I’m getting 1.42 mpg in my 330 Express with 2016 Suzuki DF250AP’s at over 28mph. That’s the best mileage figure I have seen on a 330 at a reasonable cruise speed. Here’s the picture to prove it. Power Tech 16x16 4 Blade Props. Brand new bottom job. Complete soda blasting, fairing, priming and Pettit Vivid antifouling paint. 08D1A843-A16B-49B7-93B2-C31026AE0584.jpeg

Here are the numbers since I filled up with fuel and water. It was much colder out so the engines were getting better performance.

I just put 300 Suzuki’s on my 330 and I have major cavitation problems they are three blade prop I took 250 Yamaha‘s off , they are as far down as can go on the transom I have to just keep using the throttles to get it on plane , Any suggestions

I’ve logged 900 miles with these engines and the Suzuki backbone system has been within 1/4 of 1 percent accurate. When I filled up Sunday morning. My Suzuki gauge said I had used 200.4 gal. I put 201.4 gals in to fill the tanks. I did passes in both directions on Sunday. Paddle wheel and 2 GPS’s all dead on for speed. These numbers are dead on. I’m running a new faired bottom with Pettit Vivid White.

When I got my boat. It was only turning up 5300 rpm. It had 3 blade 16x17 Suzuki Props. I ordered some Solas 3 blade 15 3/4x15 props. In the mean time, I changed all the fuel filters in the boat and on the motors. When I installed the new props. The props cavitated and I had to push the throttle up very slowly to get on plan. I was hitting the rev limiter on both motors at 6200 rpm. I ran into the owner of PowerTech Props at a trade show in Oct. He did some math and suggested his 4 blade 16x16’s. They work great! I can shove the throttles forward and the boat jumps on plane. I’m getting great fuel mileage and cruise speed.
I should have changed the filters before I started messing with the props, but it all worked out.
The Suzuki guys sent me to PowerTech because they don’t have a lot of choice with Suzuki props. Solas makes their props and they are very soft and flexible.
If your looking for efficiency, you probably want 17’s. If you want top speed you probably want 18’s. PowerTech can advise you.

I had 300's put on my 305 Express, same issue, had to Nurse it to get it up on plane, spoke with Prop Gods (Ken) he recommended setting the motors with Toe Out- I experimented and with the tip of the lower units 3/4" wider than the back, there was a HUGE difference. He said the 2nd step was to have the props dressed for Cup and Progression, I still may do that but the toe OUT was my biggest help!

PowerTech told me to toe out slightly also. The Powertech 4 blades will solve your problem. I can jam the throttles forward and jump on plane. I live in Mytle Beach if you'd like to come by.
