Maybe plug the laptop into an inverter. Not sure if it will work. There is no low idle alarm. It is either oil pressure or overheating.

Yea, did not mean to imply there is a low idle alarm... meant it is idling low, so water circ is low so it heats up.

I hear ya... but the likelihood of 3 water pumps and both engines having the exact same issue is pretty slim. Not saying you are not right, but it is not that definitive. First, I need to see if the rest of the engine is running as it should. For all we know, the thing has the idle set too low. Until I check the rest of the engine out, I am not putting a 4th pump in the thing.

I'll let you know how it comes out.

Did you change the plastic housing, cup, plate etc or just the impeller?

@Sparkdog118 - All of it. I have a 4th one for each that came in this week just in case if it turns out to not be it, but I want to check the rest out first so I do not keep throwing money at one thing.

@Bloodweiser - I do not, I was in too tight of a spot at the small lake to check and I am not sure the gauges are reading correct. I plan to put it back in the tub with the muffs this weekend and should be able to test the theory, or at least get the idle.

Well, since I ran them both for an hour in a tub with muffs on beforehand and no alarm, no...I probably won’t.

However, I should be able to get the idle speed.

The difference will be if I kick it in gear and see if the rpm drops, as it should. Then, I may get an alarm.

There is just about zero chance that you would get an overheat alarm on both engines at the same time, while at idle speed. The two motors alarming at the same time is very curious.

Already looked and no water in the fuel, the red ring is fine, but good point to keep an eye on.

Based on comments and suggestions by @Sparkdog118, heh, going to order two more of the Racor filters to be more able to drain water if it shows up. I did not like the plastic knobs, but maybe got a bad one, only tried one and it broke.

Will let you know how it goes.

I am told it does and it is a possible issue. We took photos of the exhaust and were told they had been checked and were not affected, but till we see the inside with a scope of the engine, no way to tell. That is on the list. All we have seen and posted on here says it is not the issue, but still an option.

Does bubbles come up from the lower when in the water warmed up idling?

You realize there is a hell of a lot that comes up when it is in the water, right? The exhaust in a normal engine is there, the muffs are on, there is a lot going on. We are not going to be able to diagnose or troubleshoot air bubbles in a forum. No offense intended, but the best we can hope for without a scope is guessing, period.

I have looked and done more with these engines than most people would have done. If I could have definitively called an exhaust issue, I would have. So, I’ll let you guys know what I find when I find anything.

That being said, I am going to test again, because I have nothing better to do lol...and may even pull the lower units and install yet another water pump, if I get bored, but, in the end...I seriously doubt I will do a better job installing a new pump a 4th time than the guys that do it for a living did the third time.

The good news is, at least I have something to do to avoid mowing the lawn today lol;)

I have never seen a real racor have a problem with the drain valve. The Sierra copies have all kinds of problems. The true part number for what you need is b32013. The element lasts about 2 years without a flaw. The bowl is reusable. My bottom half is about 7 years old and still working great. I just change the center element every 18 months. The trick with the o ring drain is, only tighten lightly with 2 fingers since the o ring swells over time. That way, when you drain it again, you don’t rip the o ring.

What I meant was the motor warmed up in the water not on muffs. There should be absolutely zero bubbles coming from the lower unit

Are u sure they changed the Housing and the sealing o rings. Sometimes the housings look good and they are not, so the mechanic doesn’t change them out. I see it a lot. Any air leak there n the problem is there at low speed. The o ring can pinch easily upon assembly. That is why I use the 3m 847 for sealing insurance.

I ordered the 32013.

I have to assume they did. I cannot rip apart the motors after someone installs them assuming they did it wrong, heh. I am going to look at the rpm first, I will look at the bubbles, if present. If the rpm is fine and no bubbles, I willpull and replace the lower ends again, I swear...on my mother’s grave...well, she’s not dead, but I promise, when she passes, I’ll swear on it lol.

Always best to have a plan, not just swapping things out without an idea of the expected outcome.
