Yeah, Gman...looking to see if I can modify the main hatches over the gas tanks for yearly inspection. Would those hinges hold up?

I guess if you went with 3 or 4 hinges it would support it but you would still want to keep the gap caulked. It might be just as easy to unscrew the hatch because you would still have to cut and remove the caulk anyway.

was thinking of maybe building a vertical lip on the deck portion and gasketing it over like a window hatch and routering out a matching groove on the hatch cover itself...then hinging the starboard side....maybe too much work, maybe not

thanks

Guys,
I found my back deck to be springy. The underside of the hatch was beginning to delaminate. So I added a piece of 1/4 x 2" aluminum angle under the vertical hatch, which allowed me to tap threads and tighten the hatch sufficiently.
The whole set up is horrible.I just finished reinstalling the generator because of the steel drip pan (who's idea was that !)disintegrated.I replaced it with anodized aluminum,to elimanate that the rust.[/img]

Just need it it warm up a little bit..I dont ever remember it being this cold this early for so long..only 3 months to go and she'll be floating again... 8)

Hello All - I know this is an old post but have a new me 2004 Grady Marlin. I pulled the hatch over the generator and am servicing everything down in there!
I was searching on a better way to access the area vs unscrewing and caulking all the time (had a 268 Islander years ago and dealt with the same thing even though i would access the area through the flip up bench seat most of the time - chest bruises, LOL.) In any event I'd like to modify my hatch for better access and wonder if anyone has any updates to the info in this post, thanks.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi GMan25 I know this is a really old thread but in the same situation with my new to me 04 Marlin. Could you repost your photos as they've expired.
