Oil change in water

Time for the hundred hour oil change in water midseason. Just hit 830hrs. The oil change pump works perfectly. I found this brand of full synthetic 10W-40 on Amazon $36 for 4 L I really like the built-in funnel on each bottle it’s genius

Did you not change the oil filters?
My only beef on the Zuke 4-pots is the location of the oil filter. For such a well engineered engine, it sucks. It would be great if someone with an old, tired set would experiment with a filter relocation mount to see if it has any issues.

The filter gets done when on blocks over winter on the next oil change

Suzuki filter Replace schedule is 200 hours or 12 months. No need to pull boat for 100 hour oil change.

I use that oil as well!

For the Suzuki oil filter, I've found that if you look up a say a 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.4L, its the same oil filter. I've used the Mahle # OC217/6 and Hengst # H97W01

I stick with the OEM zuke 16510-96J10 $15.65 on Boats.net Its a good price for that OEM filter ($18 list Suzuki price) and I buy other things so shipping is free.
Oil filters can have the same thread and dimension but not be the same bypass pressure, flow rate and microns. I can live with 2 x 15.65 once a year.
Zuke has several oil filters of the same form but for different models. DF150 thru DF350 call for 16510-96J10. I have not been able to find a spec sheet for them.

Suzuki maintenance parts are not particularly expensive and i would recommend the original Suzuki filter as well.
I am not a huge fan of sucking the oil out, but i am less fan of forking out 2-300$ for the lift to do the 100 hour maintenance,
particularly not if this happens once a month on charter boats as mines were once.
However it works reasonable well and lower unit can be done at 200 hours but i had issues with black, burnt oil on all my 3 Suzukis in Costa Rica so i changed LU oil every 100 hours and switched to full synthetic gear pil what solved the black, burnt LU oil.

Yeah, both the Mahle and Hengst cross reference to the wix 57145. About every major filter supplier has one for that application. Wix, fram, Denso, K&N, Mahle, Hengst, bosch, Purolator, AC Delco, etc.. Mahle and Hengst are a couple of the larger suppliers of parts to OE manufacturers.

Word is Wix makes an excellent filter, but here and elsewhere people have concerns about flow rates under certain conditions. That said, I have never read or heard of engine damage from an equivalent filter that starved an engine for oil without being defective.

Yeah, Wix is owned by Mann-Hummel, another large OE supplier of parts.
