It got into the high 60s, low 70s here today and I couldn't resist taking the boat out for a ride. As (my) luck would have it, the wind really kicked up about 15 minutes after leaving the dock. I was really surprised by how much I was blown around in the river. Sure glad I wasn't out in the bay. I had the front and side curtains on so I'm sure this was a big part of it.
Got to try out my new fuel flow meter. I previously set it up so I'm not sure how it got set to litres but seeing numbers from 42 to 48 at 4000 rpm was a bit disconcerting. Stopped and reset the unit to gallons and saw some better numbers. Running at 4000 RPM, my GPS said I was doing 30.2 MPH and fuel flow meter said I was running at 11.3 gals per hour. This equates to 2.67 MPG which is a fair bit better than I thought I was getting. I tried 3000 and 3500 rpm too but don't remember the other numbers. Next time I go out, I plan to bring a pad to record the numbers.
I also ordered the oil tank guage so I have a backup system to the idiot alarms. It was available from numerous places but the price was the same so I ordered from my local dealer. Should be in early next week.
Hope all of you have as enjoyable a first ride as I had.
