Where do you buy your trim tabs anodes?

They are available in most marine supply stores as well as online sites. There are companies that see only anodes like Zink For Boats.
You need to know what size you need. Bigger is not necessarily better.

I do wonder what percentage of folks on this site who have trim tabs, have sacrificial anodes. I don't. My baot sits in salt water from April thru approx November

I have the little "candy bar" zincs on my Bennett trim tabs. They get eaten up pretty good even though the boat is only in the water for a few month.

Have the standard Yamaha zincs too.

On the advice of the late "Tabman" from Bennett, I install an aluminum disk type anode on top of my tabs. The anodes come in pairs so I only use 1/2 of it so not to interfere with the tab action by mounting anything on the bottom. I boat in salt but the boat is slipped in brackish water. At the end of the season I do find the anodes eaten up a bit.

I replaced the handlebar anodes on both motors and decided to try aluminum - I've always used zinc. When I hauled the boat, the aluminum anodes were covered in barnacles! Never had that issue with zinc since it's a biocide. Something to consider...

Attended Rhode Island Salt Water show the other day , Grady dealer had a new 208 with Bennet tabs with R3 Anode attached to each tab. Im going to add them this spring

Zincs are cheap insurance - change them when needed. I had a FORMER cleaning service that waited too long to replace them - corrosion started on the leading edge of the tab!

I keep my boat in Norwalk, Connecticut. How bad the piano are has changed from year to year. Mostly I have to put new ones on every year..

Buy a set of rudder zincs and use one on each tab.

Seems now they make individual ones which is much easier.

I paint my trim tab tops to avoid algae growth, but always leave the spot under the zincs bare.

Mine have a zinc R3 on them. Like others, I started using 1/2 the set on each tab.(mount on top)
They always get eaten up.
For some reason they always come loose and spin by the end of they season. They only have one screw in the center.
I think Im goign to drill another hole and use a bar with 2 screws.

I use BoatZincs.com for all anodes.

They probably come loose because they were working and getting smaller:) The nearest part for the tab zinc is the tab itself and the nearest area to the metal of the tab is the underside of the zinc.

Skunk- you mentioned you mount these on top of the tab - is there enough clearance between the tab to the bottom for a top mount? I think my tabs are flush with the hull when fully retracted.

there is just enough room for an R3 in the "pocket". It has to be bumped right up to the bend up on the rear of the tab.

I don't use the trim tabs and dont really care about them but I think having more zinc in the water can't hurt.

FYI, the R3 pair has a nut imbedded in one side and just a hole in the other.
You can buy singles that have a nut in them.

Thanks, I'll check it out the area to mount the zinc after the shrink is off- hopefully in a month or so! I wonder if a screw and zip tie would work - the tie would go over the end of the tab and could be tightened as the screw hole enlarges. Or maybe use water resistant double sided tape with the zip tie. If it's on the top of the tab, there isn't much stress on the zinc.
