So, posted a lot, then slacked off because I have been amazingly busy. Took me like 2 - 3 weeks to finish the trailer brakes, between cub scouts, work, everything else. So, was not planning to take the boat out this weekend, was going to LA to visit my mom with the kiddos and wife, but my wife and I have been so busy, that we flat out needed to stay home and catch up on, everything.. lol

Both had rough weeks....months......so, the plan is... not to have a plan.

Well, sorta....me, I am hoping to organize my shop. The hard part of fixing a boat or truck etc, is getting to the parts and tools and my tools are all over the place...been waiting for the shop to get an a/c or me to get time. Now, we will have both. So, Friday and Saturday... smoke some chickens or pork, and organize the shop...and bleed the brakes. IF the boat trailer etc work good, we may make a day trip to the coast and drop her in, but honestly.. we will be happy if she works and I can get her moved, wash her, and then start organizing the storage on the boat. I can go drop her in the ocean the following weekend. We will play it by ear.

Anyone else have cool plans for the coming holiday weekend?

Oh... got some nice LED lights I plan to install outside my shop so I can have more light when in the driveway.

As I mentioned earlier, pulling my main fuel tank this weekend. Wife is going out of town with girlfriends so that leaves me with 4 uninterrupted days to work on the boat. Actually 2 afternoons after work and 2 full days, should have it ready to come out no later than Saturday morning. Bringing it home tonight, but won't start on it till Thursday afternoon after work. The new tank should be here around the 19th or 20th of next month. This is my best time I have to pull the old one so it will be done and the fuel tank area will be washed down and dried so when new one arrives I'll just drop it in and be done with it. All hoses were replaced last time around when I did auxiliary tank, so I'm ahead of the game somewhat.

See? You are living the dream for 4 days lol!

Do not get me wrong, I love my family and prefer they be around, but there is the “crux” of my stress lately. I have been trying to make time around everything else going on, wife went out of town for three days, going out of town again tomorrow for the day, and just as I start something, I get pulled away heh.

It is life, no biggie, but I am Soooooo looking forward to 4 days of getting things done.

I started the brakes like 5 times lol.

All will be well, now that the charger is actually on. I am going to have some fun washing and vacuuming and stocking the boat as well.

She will be on the water soon, just needed more hands.

I miss having boating friends down the street. Here....not so much. They are all at least an hour away, and I talk more to people via texts and forums than anything else.

Eh, is what it is and will all be well soon, so...post pics of the tank. I have safety equipment at the top of my list (eiprb) and such, then 2nd chartplotter, then tanks if needed, but have to save up for that.

Really looking forward to getting on the coast and making new boat friends to buddy up with out there...I prefer to be safe.

Oh, I also have like 4 things to get to ups....that would be a good thing to do Friday.

Not sure if I showed this....finished our kitchen doors...

ugg well had plans to have downtime, dont like the traffic on holiday weekends anymore. now it looks like i am heading to boat to prepare for Dorian. Irma brought a 4' surge into the marina and boats were floating on their trailers so...if this track holds true then there will be a pretty good surge up river.

I added brakes to the trailer for the GW 248 that I got this spring. I had an awful time getting the brakes bled. I tried several times using different methods without any success. Finally I got a motive products power bleeder. Motive 1.jpg I bought an extra cap for the actuator and installed a 1/4 x 1/4 nipple fitting in the cap.Motive 2.jpg Then I attached the cap to the actuator, put brake fluid in the bottle and pumped to 15 PSI. I then bled each axle, farthest from the actuator first. It worked finally. I never had that much trouble on other brake jobs, but this finally solved the problem Good luck.

Yep, plan to get almost the identical device. I am also going to remove the main line I just added and add teflon tape to the ends, make sure it is not sucking air.

Thanks for the input!

Wow, something went smooth!! Lol. Also, if I add POWER to the elec box....(lol).... the radar should work hehe.

Gps and xm antennas updated and daddy was running the chartplotter etc from his phone lol.

Will get up into the elec box friday after I disconnect the old power cable for the old vhf and fabricate a mount and bleed the brakes.

Then, if time, washing the boat friday or sat and cleaning her up.

Our plans for this weekend depend almost entirely on what track Hurricane Dorian takes as he zeroes in on Florida. GFS has track hundreds of miles away from us, while the European model has the CPA in hundreds of yards... sort of makes a big difference, and the Euro has a much better track record.

Starting on the preps checklist in the morning.

One of the companies I used to own was predicting the nymex based on weather modeling.. heh.. we had servers dedicated to hurricane tracking. I always remember our models being pretty darn accurate and remember watching two hurricanes headed into the alley at the same time. Natgas headed to the sky, market went nuts, we watched them shear each other to death and shorted, made a bundle.. lol..

Anyway, another life :p

I tend to just play it by ear, hence why my fallback plan, to keep myself sane.. ;)...is to spend time washing, detailing, and prepping. Either way, it is boat and/or workshop if not fishing. Any of the above will keep me having fun.

It's not looking like a fun holiday weekend for Florida, will be watching and preparing for a storm. Praying that it spares us and turns North before coming ashore. I have been through more of these than anyone deserves, Dorian GO AWAY! :(

Kooky, just got ActiveCaptain up and registered and seems I have an inSight plan good till August 2020, not sure what that is or which plan...heh.. probably came with one of the 4 devices I bought. Chat for Garmin is busy so cannot find out what it is, heh

Okay, brake line bleed was a bust alone. Supposedly will get help tomorrow.

I moved on to the boat itself. Radar is booted up, about to update the software. Garmin ActiveCaptain keeps telling me I am logged in as "Guest" so cannot add the other Garmin products.....need to research that one.

Cannot see the Garmin Steadycast, so researching that one as well.

Lots o' research today.

Tomorrow will be brakes and washing the boat.

I have decided not to stress over getting in the water. What I need to do is "enjoy the ride there"...i.e. I am going to have fun cleaning her up and getting her "Make-ready" so she is safe, clean, has everything she needs. That is my weekend plan.

Then.. if all goes well, I will plan a Sat/Sun trip.
