    First Grady White

I've not owned the 200hp Yamaha. I have the 250. I know a six pack captain here on the west coast who had 7000 hours on his 250, was repowering and had someone that was going to give him $5K for the old motor. 1100 hours doesn't really scare me if it was well maintained. As I recall, that...

Me too. Maybe I should delete this thread but I don't think I can do that.

    gradywhite.com down?

Weird, still down for me. Whatever, they'll fix it eventually. I've been there, enjoying retirement instead.

    I hope that's a joke. I googled, didn't see anything. Do you know something I don't?

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

It's at Miguel's Boat Repair in Santa Clara getting epoxy paint and he's fixing up the dings and the holes from the hardtop. Hope to get it back in a week or two and I'll post more pictures. And on an unrelated note, someone got a bluefin 20 miles out. In March. Go figure. I want my boat...

    2003 Grady 232 Gulfstream

I have it's little brother, the 228 with a modern f250. When I'm going on tuna runs, full fuel, 22 gallons of extra fuel in gas cans, lots of ice, 3 dudes, I really struggle to get on plane. My opinion is you will hate that 225 with a passion and repower as soon as you can. I would offer what...

    Grady Seafarer 228 - Accessories

On the cover, my advice is to go off the shelf, I think there is a company called Carver that makes them. If you can find a lighter fabric that's going to be a lot easier in a one piece cover.

    93 208 Repower - V6 or V8 Mercury

My buddy with the Canyon 271 is looking at Invincible cats. You can get them with Yamaha but everyone runs Mercs. The Mercs are lighter and narrower. Their 300 seems to be pretty reliable. Just a side comment as I've been studying Mercs lately.

    Benchmarking 2000 272 Sailfish Prices

Someone had one in the Santa Cruz harbor a while back. Kinda tired looking, 2 strokes, they were asking $65K. No idea what it sold for. Have you looked at all the boat trader web sites? I checked one, $45-$85K asking.

    Marine decking questions

If you are asking me, black just shows dirt more than a more neutral color wood. Yeah, it gets hot but where I fish it's rare that that is a problem.

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

So this is the first time I've been in the pilot house when it is on my boat. Here's what I've learned. The box is awesome, it's huge, I can mount a 12 inch display on the face of it. And when I am at the helm, I can lean forward and my head does not hit the box. However, and this may be...

Fresh water washdown hose to flush engine?

I know a 6 pack captain who replaced his Yamaha 250hp at 7000 hours. The engine ran fine. He was replacing because, well, 7000 hours is a lot. The engine was running very well, he sold it for $5000. I asked how he got so many hours out of it and he said "I flush it every single time it is in...

I really doubt it. I'd break it down, fold it in half.

Pretty much the same as I was before. I'll measure when it is not raining. Boat is home now.

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

Yeah, I'll be 62 when I fish this boat, I want to send someone else up there. But I wanted to build it such that I'd be willing to go up there and I think we have that. I've already decided when I can't climb all over my boat, that's when it is maybe time to hang it up. Or find a younger...

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

The guy who did it looked at the chair and said "why did I not do this on all the other ones?" so maybe I added a little value?
