outdoor carpet as poor man's seadeck?

That looks like the ticket. I'll give that a try and report back. Anyone else have a pointer to other stuff like that? Or has anyone installed that DECKadence stuff and have a review?

outdoor carpet as poor man's seadeck?

My plan is to pull each time I go out, clean it, clean the boat, and put it back in before the next trip. I agree that if I left it in, it would just get gross. As for trip hazard, right now I lay towels down. My harbor is filthy, so I make people walk on the towels for the first half hour to...

outdoor carpet as poor man's seadeck?

I'm looking at this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/VEVOR-Indoor-Outdoor-Carpet-6-ft-x-29-5-ft-Waterproof-Back-Texture-Outdoor-Rug-Deep-Blue-JZXWDTLS1-8X9M001V0/324006779 with the idea that I'd cut a couple pieces to fit my deck. Might make some loops that go around the support columns on the...

    Crab pot puller

If you are using Marinco plugs, splitting the prongs apart slightly, and coating everything with dielectric grease works pretty well. If you aren't using Marinco plugs, you probably should be.

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

How would you compare the Canyon 271 to the 306 Canyon? I ask because my buddy Jens has a 271, I fish on it all the time, it's an awesome boat. Great hull. Twin 300s. He keeps talking about bigger and 306, 330 are what he is looking at. I'm sort of opposed because he trailers that boat a...

    2023 Adventure 218

Unless Grady gave you a speed knob, this is an awesome one: https://edsonmarine.com/proseries-powerknob-969st-18/ Really helps for docking and tight quarters.

    2023 Adventure 218

Yes, main off, kicker on and in gear, the main acts as a rudder. Works well except in a cross wind. Then you just adjust the angle of the kicker. My kicker is a Suzuki and it has a lever under the throttle that you loosen or tighten to keep the kicker pointed where you want. So when I see...

    2023 Adventure 218

I have auto pilot on the main engine. My kicker is not tied (tieing them is a pain in the ass). I've found that I can troll with the kicker and steer with the main engine on auto pilot just fine 95% of the time. If my path is perpendicular to the wind, I adjust the kicker a bit. I have the...

    Repowered my seafarer 228!!

I have that same 250hp Yamaha. I love it. You'll have fun, it's so quiet at idle and no 2 stroke smells. Congrats.

I have the Scotty and while I wish it had a longer boom, I like it. It just works.

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

I don't think I'm the only one who wants to know what 14 Gradys you have had and what you run now. Talk about a learning experience.

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

I'm a 228 owner but there was a 232 for sale at my dealer and I do have to say, it is a beast. It seems like it is a foot longer but it is a way heavier boat and heavy is better in the slop. I absolutely adore my 228, it's the boat for me, but the 232 is a step up. Bigger is better. If Grady...

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

That used 228 looks nice. Price seems right. I'd lose the bottom paint and redo the trailer (if possible) with bunks. Rollers are unsafe in my book. But definitely a workable boat and in a 130 hours there is really not much they could have screwed up. I'd be curious to know why they are...

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

This won't be popular, but I'm not a fan of the 218. I have a 228 and I looked over the 218 and it is more expensive, looks less like a fishing platform, to me it looks like a downgrade from a 228. That said, a 232 is a tank. Much beefier boat, gonna be better in chop than the 218 I suspect...

    2023 Adventure 218

I have about 2600 miles on my main engine and the average over all is 2.15mpg. I have a kicker so that is running out and in. I'm surprised it is that bad but I suspect the fact that I leave the main engine idling when I'm drift fishing accounts for some of it.

    2023 Adventure 218

Not poop on anyone's parade too much, but those mpg numbers are pure fantasy. On a pretty flat ocean I'll get as much as 2.4mpg @ 25mph and if there is any chop it will drop to 2.2mpg. I've _never_ seen my 228 get 3mpg. Does anyone get better than what I get?

    2023 Adventure 218

I agree. And I don't think it's about the WOT speed even, it's more about the hole shot. I think the 200 is going to struggle to push the 218 up on plane when it's not a flat ocean. And I'm not one of those "bigger is better" guys, I have a 250 on my 228 which can handle a 300. I think the...

    Seafarer 228 RPM and MPH

Just a FYI, I had the stock 3 blade prop when I bought the boat from Grady, I think it was people here who told me to get a 4 blade from the prop gods (I don't remember where, I think it was a dude named Ken), the 4 blade did not make any noticiable difference in speed.

    Seafarer 228 RPM and MPH

I have a 2020 228 with a Yamaha 250. At 6000 rpm I'd be doing around 45mph. 4400 rpm I think I'm around 30mph. If you need exact numbers, let me know and I'll get them. You probably know that it varies a lot with conditions, it has to be pretty flat for me to get to 45mph, but your numbers...

    2023 Adventure 218

Same I have the 228 with the digital 250. No way would I go back to mechanical, digital has no dead spot in the middle. The 218 is big enough I think it wants the 250. It's wider, that adds weight.
