To upgrade engines or Not to upgrade this is the question!

Also factor in the savings from not buying and burning 2 stroke oil, the environment will appreciate you for that. I was looking for my last boat about 15 years ago and one with a 2 stroke that was for sale was idling at the dock, a Yamaha 130hp, there was a cloud of smoke around the boat, I...

    Ladder Back seats for sale.

I thought the same thing but would have hoped he would have given me the courtesy of an initial reply since he made the effort to post the information here, but my mistake.

    Ladder Back seats for sale.

Definately frustrated about these seats, they are advertised for sale, I reply the same day, tried repeatedly to contact the seller, no response, now they are sold, doesn’t make any sense to me …

    pics?

Trapper, we had a similar encounter with white sided dolphins a few years ago off Pine Island out of Port Hardy. We were anchored and bouncing bottom for halibut, these dolphins were screaming very close around the boat and then submarined to the bottom, caught my braid fishing line and was...

    2023 Adventure 218

Well keep in mind that Mr. Ready-Freddy is running a kicker for trolling on the Westcoast like I am with my Suzuki’s so having mechanical controls works awesome with a dual binnacle setup for both engines. To my knowledge I don’t they have made a fly by wire kicker to date.

    Seafarer 228 RPM and MPH

Looks like the motor is too low, I have a Suzuki DF250 and I cruise at 32mph at 4200 rpm with my Seafarer. You should be able to see the anti-cavitation plate when cruising. But it could be a prop issue as well.

What is this worth? 2006 GW 225 Tournament

Not to derail this thread but I believe the exhaust issue on those earlier Yamaha’s was from lack of corrosion resistance in the mid engine casing applied from the factory. I would hope that the replacement parts would have the anti corrosion issue solved.

    tough day on the brine

Sounds awesome, Desolation Sound is on my list of places to go. We prawned on the back side of Twin Islands a few years ago but never ventured further in. We do live in paradise, thanks for reluctantly sharing.

Hi Trapper, you have my curiosity, where is this?

    Sureshade PTX

I recently adding this Bimini to my Seafarer to cover the back seats when raining/misting, a more permanent solution but no moving parts. Should keep the wife and guests more comfortable and happy when fishing

    The POD influence

The bigger question might be, what was going through the minds of the designers/architects at Grady to bracket those early models? Were they attempting to improve/test the SV2 hull with a bracket or was it an easy transition to a bracket from the 227 Seafarer model without the inboard ie fill in...

    The POD influence

I agree with all comments so far and did stuff the bow for the first time into a 4-6 ft wave going around Cape Sutil on Northern Vancouver Island last year. I definitely didn’t have the motor trimmed up enough, lesson learned. First time I’ve seen green water through the windshield of any boat...

    228 is a beauty

Hey Trapper, my total length on the Road Runner trailer is almost 32ft which is why my shop is 36 feet deep minus the 2x6 walls. Drop by one day if you would like to take a look.

    Power 225 up to 300 24 offshore

I have the 1999 Seafarer which is comparable in weight to your 24 Offshore. My DF250 Suzuki launches my Seafarer out of the water, I can’t say enough good things about that engine. I was a Yamaha guy for over 20 years and just happened to get a low hour Suzuki, both brands are great motors. That...

    Wipers vs no wipers

On my Seafarer, I use my wiper when ever it’s raining or windy, I really would like 2 wipers so my co-pilot can look for logs as well. I always look through the windshield while sitting down , I only stand when docking to expand my view.

How to remove stains on Starboard

I use the Mr Clean magic erasers on my seats and floor on my Seafarer, just don’t soak the eraser and it cleans quite well, just a little bit of scrubbing seems to work on moist stains but not the really heavy rust stains
