    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

My thoughts as well. Though the 228 is $30,000 more than the 208, maybe they get more volume on the 208. I thought about buying a 208, thought long and hard about the cock pit and went bigger. Super happy that I did so. The 228 is a much better boat. $30K better? I dunno, I paid it, I'm happy.

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

Hell will freeze over before I sell mine. Eddie at Grady asked me recently how I was liking my boat and I offered to talk to him for 2 hours about all the things I love about my 228. It's such a great boat, sized just right, gets the job done. I might add a bigger boat down the line but the...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

I get that dealers in warm climates won't have walk arounds, they only make sense for people who want to sleep in them there. But they make a ton of sense as it gets colder. I'm in central California and it is cold enough that I adore the walk around helm. It just gets colder as you go more...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

It's weird, I sort of get it, I started on a center console and loved how open it was. I didn't really like the look of a walk around but it has grown on me. All you need is one long run on a cold day and you're in love with that big warm helm. The strange thing is my dealer told me he's sold...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

I asked Grady and they confirmed. I don't get it. I'm checking with my local dealer but if you want one of these, jump on the next one you find (after a survey). Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2021 17:00:26 +0000 From: Gwen Edwards <gedwards@gradywhite.com> To: 'Larry McVoy' <lm@mcvoy.com> CC: "Danny...

    Questions/concerns about possibly purchasing a 228 Seafarer...

I emailed Grady to ask. Seems really strange. I think the guy saying they will rebadge it and charge more is probably on to something. Going to be spendy, mine was $130ish out the door just before COVID hit.

    I'm in.

Once this COVID thing is in the rear view, I'm gonna organize a boat load of Gradys going out under the golden gate in formation. Gonna buy a drone to get video and stills. Grady White boats just work really well in our ocean, gotta show them off.

    I'm in.

I'm a 228 owner, Santa Cruz is my harbor. I'd love a West Coast Grady club as well. Grady people have been pretty great. Doesn't have to be Santa Cruz, I've launched from Monterey, Moss, SC, Half Moon Bay, and Oyster Point to go out under the golden gate. Probably going to go north to Fort...

I can say my boat agrees. I can get it down there but it wants to go faster.

    Happy new owner

I've already made a mental note to do what you said in an earlier post, I'll reread that and make a plan. While I don't fret over getting the best MPG, I do fret over climate change so if I can stretch the gallons, I want to do that. Silly but a wise person once told me "it all adds up". I...

You guys are right, there is a lot more weight back there with dual 200s. I don't have any problem with you big boys have to do. I should have made it more clear that it was for my (much lighter) boat, I can get the job done fine with just the engine. Keitha, I have played around with watch...

    Happy new owner

Keitha, I hear you but I've been following this guy's advice: https://www.gradywhite.com/explore/grady-owners/customer-tips/trim-tabs/ On my boat, a 228, I can move the bow up and down at least 3 feet just with the engine. So I tend to use the tabs only for list. As the video said, if I had...

    Craig's List Seafarer

Good point. If the boat is in good shape, that's a little too good to be true in the price department. Just those reels are $thousands so the scam angle may be correct.

    Craig's List Seafarer

That's a lot of boat and gear for $17K. Whoever gets this should have it surveyed but unless there is something major, buy it and fix it.

I went through this with my 228, she was effectively the first ocean going boat I've owned and I was green as heck, didn't even know what "trimming the engine" meant so my first trip out I beat the crap out of myself, had the bow too high. I've learned. Here's what works on my smaller 228. I...

I'm a n00b so no idea, but that is my harbor as well. Maybe a 2 boat (or 3, Calling Mr 228 in Santa Cruz), lets go out and see how the boats ride.

    Newb!! I need help!

Checking back in on this thread, Magic I did not know about that lake. Seems like Grady would do well there. My bad for not googling.

    Questions/concerns about possibly purchasing a 228 Seafarer...

I'm south of you, my harbor is Santa Cruz in CA. My wife wants to move to where you are, I looked at the temps, you guys need all the help you can get. I think the 228 is the perfect big small boat or the small big boat. It is very seaworthy. But I'm a n00b. You need to look around and ask...

    Newb!! I need help!

Hello, fellow n00b. "Buy your second boat first." I bought a boat without having it surveyed and lost $15K when I resold after fighting with it for 2 years. What a waste. I was so pissed off I bought a new Grady, I just wanted it to work. For $10K you aren't going to get a lot of boat...
