Just days away from first GW Adventure 208 2021! Am I on the right track?

That's the little brother to the 228 which is perhaps the most popular Grady White. The 208 is exactly the same as a 228 except the cockpit is 2 feet shorter and the smaller 200hp engine is transom mount rather than mounted on the swim platform. I looked at both and I own a 228. It was...

2006 208 adventure scotty downrigger mount

So I'm swimming against popular opinion here, I use the rod holder for my Scotties (1 crab puller, 2 downriggers). I've seen no flex, no problems with the crab pots.

    Seafarer Hardtop Thickness?

Thru bolts. And I think my top is different, it's all metal, no sandwich. And "I" didn't do jack all, I just through a pile of money at Johnson Hicks and they did it. I know I could do it, but come on, I was crazy enough to buy a new 228 so I wanted all the extras done by pros. I looked over...

    228 gross & net tonnage?

I'm getting dinged for property tax on my 228 and they want gross tonnage and net tonnage. Is that even a thing for boats this small? If it is, anyone know what the numbers are for a 2020 228? Thanks.

    Seafarer Hardtop Thickness?

I have a 2020, so may be different. I hung a VHF under the top behind the captains seat. I love it but I have had to train myself to turn the console one down when I go to the cockpit (I leave console on scan and leave the other one on channel 11, our local chatter channel). Works pretty well.

    Rocket launcher for Marlin

I believe these guys make them for GW - let me know what they want for those: https://www.wmwmarine.com/rodholders.html

I called my dealer and he said just reuse the nut that is there and you should be able to do the same. He said my boat is 3/4" tapered so I have one coming Wednesday, should know by Thursday or so if it fits (we have heavy rain predicted, might take longer than that).

Happy to help, I know we take Zelle. I'm still trying to figure out what size the threads are. Do you know what yours are and what year is your boat?

    EPIRB's

If you (or anyone) were buying one now, would you buy that one again? I surfed youtube for a while, what I'd really like to see is one of those deployed in really snotty conditions and see people manage to get into it. Another thing that I'd like is some way to put stuff in it and repack it...

    EPIRB's

I'd be interested to know which liferaft, how it is stored, and how it is inflated. Also, have you (or anyone) tried a practice ditch in lumpy conditions just to see if it works? Also interested brands / models of all the stuff.

New potential owner 1999 Grady White 208 adventure question

I can't urge you enough to get it surveyed. But if it checks out, you're gonna love that ride. Just have it checked out, it's so worth it. Also, 225 is underpowered for that hull. I have a 250 and it's fine for WOT but if the seas are really lumpy it struggles to get on plane a bit. I could...

    Our first trip out

Congrats on your trip. And I can agree on the steadycast, that's what was sold to me and I've tried 4 times to calibrate it and failed each time. I'm taking it back to the dealer and telling him for $15K of electronics and install, you can bloody well make it all work. Kind of bogus that they...

    2020 228 steering wheel

Is it 5/8"-18? I have a seastar system and that seems to be what Amazon thinks. I want to replace the OEM one with one that has a built in steering knob. If anyone wants the stock one, it's yours once I'm happy with the replacement.

New potential owner 1999 Grady White 208 adventure question

She is a looker, right? I love that boat. The bracket is both nice and not nice. I don't know how familiar you are with Gradys, but the 228 has a sibling, the 226. The 226 is the same hull, no bracket, transom mounted engine. Some people prefer that because the bracket can push you around...

New potential owner 1999 Grady White 208 adventure question

I'm biased, since I have one, but I think you want a 228. You really are welcome to come look at mine, if the weather holds then I'll drop pots probably Wednesday. I could meet you at the SC harbor and let you look her over. I'm relatively new to being the guy in charge but I'm pushing 600...

New potential owner 1999 Grady White 208 adventure question

I looked at the 208 and decided the cockpit was too small. I went with a 228 which is 2 feet longer in the cockpit. I find the 228 to be kinda cramped with 4 people in it fishing. You can do it but you are on top of each all the time. I think the 208 would work well with 2 adults but not so...

    Seadek on a 228?

I've been to dozens of doctors, custom inserts, had 6 epidurals, etc, etc. I wear Lowa Renegade boots, they help a little. Hardwood/stone floors suck, I like carpeted better. So for me, I think the 13mm seadek is probably the right answer. I've got salt water washdown on the boat and I use...

    Seadek on a 228?

I had never heard of dekit before, just checked out their website. They seem more fishing oriented, is their stuff better than seadek? What does everyone think? I also looked at the mats that someone else suggested, they look harder (not positive but it looks that way to me). I really want...
