5” deep, 3” diameter hole saw for maxwell windlass install

Another way of doing it, drill down until the hole saw bottoms, remove it, use a drill bit to drill the pilot hole all the way then use the hole saw from underneath until it meets the other cut . Another option after the saw bottoms out use a smaller hole saw to cut another hole inside the...

Too Short to See Over Windshield! Step Suggestions?

I use something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/SKYDEX-Sea-Shocks-Helm-Mat/dp/B00GSW2BBA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&tag=bmr_general-20&linkId=8ace959475cf48c3ed944c5909ae1d52&language=en_US I mainly use it for shock absorption to save my ankles when driving offshore .

Live Well on my 22 seafarer

Looks like you have a 226, make sure your seacock is OPEN, I think you will find it is closed. The Rule pump is bellow water level and she will self prime . When under way on the plane the tank will fill without having the pump on. I run mine at home on the trailer with a hose on the pick up to...

    Yamaha 200 starting problems

You have at least one connection that is not clean. Take the cables off from battery one and clean them with a battery terminal brush or a round file, do the same with the cable that goes from battery one to battery two. When you get it working use terminal spray on the battery poles . If you...

Seastar Hoses for a 22’ Seafarer

My old Seafarer had copper as well, newer boats have braided plastic . If I was you I would replace the copper to the transom with new plastic and retain the short hoses from the transom to the ram. If they look warn replace them as well. If they are original I would replace then even if they...

    Skene Bow Chocks

Not my boat, I wish him luck as well. I will add that the boat looked more like a 5 yo when I sold her rather than 23 and she was fitted with a new engine when I bought her . Still $90k is a lot of coin for a 23 YO boat.

    Trailer tires

I wouldn't buy anything made in China if I can find equivalent made anywhere else, especially tyres and bearings . Any of the major brands make radial 8 ply tyres that are suitable. In Australia 13" tyres are hard to find these days 14 and 15 are common on trailers now. I run 15",8 ply...

    Seafarer 228 4 blade vs 3 blade

The reason same prop works on the 3.3 and 4.2 lt, the 4.2 makes more torque and power down low and on a wider rev band . She is a much more suitable engine for our heavy boats.

    Wheel Spacers-thoughts, safety?

I wouldn't do it for 2 reasons . It will load your bearings more and depending on the spacer thickness you may not have enough tread on the lugs. Wheel spacers are illegal in Australia . Different offset wheels will be much safer but still put more load on your bearings.

    228 livewell question

I run with livewell open and stand pipe in place anytime I have live bait in. Other times I shut the seacock, sometimes I run with seacock open and stand pipe off if no livies. The water from the livewell could overflow due to rough seas and drop in the bilge finding its way the jump seats. I...

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

17M markings on Yamaha prop could be either S/S or ally. It looks like ally in the picture but the OP should be able to tell better than me looking at a picture. If you can't tell take it off weigh it and post the weight.

Another prop post + performance question. 2005 Seafarer 228 with F225

Looks like you have ally prop totally useless for that boat.. Replace it with either SWS2 15.5x 17" pitch or for heavier loads 4 blade 16" pitch or even 15" . You may even lift the engine one hole as well . I have a F250 4.2 lt she came with a SWS2 15.5x 17" ( 4.2 have different gearbox) and she...

    Seafarer Autopilot Pump Location

I fixed the pump on a S/S angle with rubber base ( so it doesn't vibrate). As you can see I removed the bulkhead, I positioned it under the dash next to the waste pipe. She is very close to the steering helm so you don't need long hoses. You can T on the helm or the pump, I found it easier to T...

    Auto pilot and connected main/kicker?

I don't have mine connected to a kicker as I don't have one. Works perfect on the main engine , I can't see why it wouldn't work on both if the kicker is connected to the main with a bar. I have a Simrad AP 44 ...

Grady white took some hard hits

If your boat is in sound condition ( no wet transom or stringers) I can assure you, you will break your back long before you can break the the Grady. I had mine several times out of the water heading out, my main worry then is the fact that I way break a prop shaft when the boat drops back in...

Trailer options for a GW 228 Seafarer

It is more expensive where you are but you have great king salmon fishing there , you can't have them all!! Electric winch not required if you use the slides . Many years ago I had one, actually I still have it in the garage ( powerwinch 912). I drive the boat on and my buddy winches a few...
