New Boat Order - Kicker choices

Aloha Koakine88! Highly recommend a 9.9HP high thrust extra long shaft. It sips gas. I mounted mine on starboard side because I had a swim ladder already on the port side. You are correct, listed until I came up with a weight fix. There are brackets that mount on the swim bracket so you don't...

    livewell timer

I just installed a new wash down and livewell system on my older 228. You have a dual port pump, which is exactly what I put in. First did you check the fuse for the livewell? The brown and black wires in your photo lead to your panel in the helm which is fused. Your wash down pump has a...

Adding a raw water washdown and live well to my 2009 Grady White 226 Seafarer

I added a live well and wash down with much help from other Grady members and guidance 3 months ago. I only cutout one hole and used a dual pump. https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/228-baitwell-aerator-addition.29684/ You can plumb the lines after the sea cock anywhere on your hull. No fears...

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Just spoke with Grady White customer relations about this. They raised their scuppers on some models up to 1 1/4" to accommodate the newer engine weights. So my height change of 3" is certainly aggressive. They said some people put in line check valves in the hoses on the older models as well...

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Hi Dan, I raised my 1987 Seafarer scuppers 3" because the weight of the the newer engine (2003) and a wet transom was keeping them 2" below the water line. I also installed a 9.9 kicker, another 100 pounds give or take. I got tired of my boat taking on small amounts of water when I was out...

    Engine and Grady Bracket removal

Bravo!!! Grady advised you well to use 5200 since you are just beading the perimeter and it has a nice "grip". For whatever it's worth my use of 4200 between the bracket and transom is holding up watertight on the 5th year. I wish mine turned out half as nice as yours did ZeebrOOk. Lee

    Looking for a young 228

Very pricey, and there is almost no inventory of newer 228 models for sale in the US. Covid has changed the marketplace, as many like me are doing almost nothing, so we get a dog, buy an RV, ATV, boat etc. You get my point. I would personally wait a year or two till things cool off, or even...
