    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

What Doc said. I got about 45mph out of my Yamaha 250 somewhere north of 5000 rpm and getting between 1.7-2.0mpg. Engine is probaby not broken in, has less than 25 hours on it.

    Gratitude

For those that don't know, THT is "The Hull Truth", probably the biggest boating/ocean fishing forum. Bloody Decks is another one, the Bloody Decks guy is the guy who does the Local Knowledge fishing show, it's on Amazon Prime and I've seen some episodes on youtube. Check it out, it's fun. I...

    Perko dual battery switch

Yes, I'm aware. The point is to leave the dock with two topped up batteries. The boat can sit for a while between trips. I like the ACR, it's on my TODO list. That's belt and suspenders.

    Trim Tabs 101:

But isn't that exactly what the trim tabs are doing? It's a flat surface angled down so it lifts the stern. Trim tabs are more adjustable to level the boat but I don't get why they are magic and the anti-ventilation plate is "bad"? Seems like you could use both. And sorry, don't want to...

    Gratitude

I'm old and retired and I own a Grady, I'm not trying to prove anything to anybody and I'm fairly thick skinned. THT still bugs me because they seem to delight in making fun of newbies. Not in that teasing "I'm just doing this because I like you" way, but, in my opinion, a more genuinely nasty...

    Perko dual battery switch

I have one of these mounted next to the batteries. It is supposed to be "smart" and only charge when they need it. If their indicator lights are to be believed, it works. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NCOKV0 And like others here, I try and alternate batteries each trip.

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

I appreciate your sentiment but I think the forum, at least us new guys, might stumble across this and want to see what you know. If I were you I'd post here.

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

The engineer in me wants to pick at this a bit to understand better. That last quoted sentence is what I want to understand. Trimming the engine forward makes it work harder because the bow is down, more of the hull is in the water? Yes or is there more to it? Because trimming it back and...

    Bow shade on center consoles

Not about the bow shade, but lock in your new boat before you sell the Marlin. You are going to find that COVID has made boats way more expensive. There was a thread about it on THT. You should price similar Marlins before you set your pricing, I think that part will be pleasant, the price...

    Gratitude

I have not gotten that done yet. Part of the reason was during the lock down, I took to calling her "Driveway Slayer" and that always made me smile. But all of my adult friends said "Gratitude" is a better name and it seems to have stuck. Hard to say fast on the radio if you've been drinking...

    First engine mistake, how bad?

I don't. All I know is some small shop in Oregon makes them. If you could tease that info out of CVM you might get it cheaper if you ordered direct. I don't even know what I paid for it, I knew I needed it so it went on the credit card, I never looked. Mainly because I bet it was expensive...

    Gratitude

Hey guys, just wanted to say I really appreciate this forum and all of you. Needed to do it in the morning so it isn't cocktail enabled if you know what I mean. THT feels like high school, everyone trying to impress each other when nobody really cares. This place feels like a bunch of adults...

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

I've done something similar by accident. I was trying to level the boat and I expected an instant response from the tabs so I held one down too long. I'm single engine so it wasn't quite as dramatic but it was up there. I've learned to do a little tab, wait to see what that does, repeat.

    208 Adventure wont start.

I couldn't agree with advice more, it is what you do and cell phones make it so easy.

    First engine mistake, how bad?

Perfect. I've been meaning to repower anyway so I can match that pretty Suzuki.

    Kicker on a 228.

Yes, just stuck them all up here: http://mcvoy.com/lm/boat/ If you want me to upload them to here I can. I got the bracket from my dealer, there is some dude in Oregon (I think) that makes them.

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

We didn't run on plane at that, far from it. It was a shit day. I take Dramamine to not be seasick, I'm a wuss, I take it the night before and in the morning. I took 4 more on that day when it was 10@12. And still was green. Awful day, never want to do that again. We had waves coming over...

On the kind words, they are earned, you did that. I think you are the goal posts for how people should be on this forum, you know stuff and you share it without belittling people, it's super cool. I get that it might feel a little strange to get praise for that, I'm from Wisconsin, it is very...

    First engine mistake, how bad?

Yeah, so you can imagine my worry with 48 hours of that. It is what it is, I suspect I'm fine but don't want to repeat that.
