    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

Yeah, so I don't think it is the Yamaha's fault, I suppose it could be slightly different than Honda but not dramatically so. I run trimmed 100% forward almost 100% of the time, it's the only way I've found to have any sort of decent ride, trimming it back just makes the boat pound. I do tend...

226/228 owners - do you pull the plug?

I think I saw somewhere on here where GW had moved some of the drain holes up. I wonder if mine are higher than yours. Mine also have little rubber flaps in them that are a very weak sort of check valve. You might see if yours are missing.

Is there any point in using knots over mph? We're all sort of tuned in to mph or kmp, what does knots buy you other than being in the boating club?

228g hard top ,top end speed

2020 w/F250 - I've hit 40 @ around 4600rpm with 2 people on board, 2/3rd full tank and I had more engine left, just no balls, 40 was flying on the Pacific. My numbers matches Grady's performance chart which tops out at 48mph @ 5800rpm. I doubt I'll ever get the boat going that fast, 40 seems...

226/228 owners - do you pull the plug?

PVC is NPT. I think it would work just fine as a backup. Do you get water coming in the drains from waves? I haven't seen that in my boat, I have seen a tiny amount in the rear drains when we are fishing back there, just drifting.

Wow, that's not ideal. And the rest of the week looks crazy. Is that normal? I looked at windy.com and that big bay east of Auckland looks super flat. Any idea how the fishing is in there?

If you find ones that look like they would work as well as Alan's please post. I originally thought Alan's would take up space in the cockpit but they seem fine. There is a really good crew of kayakers in our waters, I've been watching Die Hard Fishing, Outdoor Chef Life, and others for a...

226/228 owners - do you pull the plug?

So maybe I make my plug a backup, get a couple of these: https://www.amazon.com/SEAWORTHY-INNOVATIONS-Boat-Garboard-Drain/dp/B08FJGCRDG/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=1%2F2+inch+boat+plug&qid=1598832702&sr=8-6 and throw some of these in the truck and the boat...

Never thought of spares. Is that plug any standard size/thread? Would 1/2" PVC plugs work in a pinch?

I'm happy to help where I can. That curve, which I'm still on but have climbed up a bit, is very fresh. As someone else said, we're all in this together. It's why I love this forum, it's a bunch of nice, helpful people. Very few old salty dogs which seem to be the norm on THT.

This is Alan Tani's boat with 3 kayaks. He's taxi cabbing them down to Big Sur: Kinda cool.

Right now she is outside, but she is getting a shed with a concrete slab, walls to the ground all the way around, wide enough that I can wash her inside. As soon as the wife approves :)

That's hilarious seeing as I have 20 whole hours on my main engine. I'm a rank n00b, I'm literally a few hours ahead of you on the 228. I'll bet anything you have way more boating experience than I do. I'm happy to help with the 228 curve, it's quite steep at first. I was terrified the first...

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

I feel like there is no perfect boat. If Triumph were still around and if they were strong enough to put a bracket on (they aren't) then I'd probably own that. I like those hulls best. But the 228 is a great compromise, I love mine. It is as big as I can get to my house, if I manage to get...

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

You have way more experience than me, trust your judgement. I can speak to the 228 a little. It is a finicky boat, you have to figure out what it wants to ride right, but when you do, things get better. There are a ton of 228 owners here who can speak to this better than I can. But I've...
