How Secure a Danforth Style Anchor in the Anchor Lockerr

If you have the correct size bar so it can't drop off it can't hit anywhere. I had one on my old 228, never had a problem. Sure you can hear the chain bouncing but that will not damage anything.

    Propeller Grady White 228

2013, 4.2 lt with digital control. 4 blade props have better holeshot but loose a little top speed.

    Hi,from Greece..

Welcome aboard, I'm sure you will love your 208, where are you going to use it? I'm in Sydney Australia, I spent a few summers on Greek islands. Nothing wrong with your English.

Ready to go to Key Largo

She looks great and ready for action. Enjoy your stay there and keep safe . I don't know about you but I don't leave the front clear on when trailering, especially at 60-65 mph. I use this on mine.

    Garboard drain plug!!

Don't be so harsh on yourself Seasick, I'm sure everyone has done it at least once . Over the years I have done it a few times ( I don't know how many). I have a habit now , I start the engine before I drive off the trailer. By the time I trim the engine down and start it the bilge pump starts...

Grady White - Help with Model Choices

Another happy 228 owner here in Sydney Australia, I'm on my second one actually. It does all I want her to do and she is under 2.5 mtrs wide (8' 21/4") the maximum allowed here without wide load permits and under 3500 kg towing weight (7700 lb). Easy to tow behind my Landcruiser anything above...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

Not when it is rough, I want my back for the next day, week , year. I don't want to break myself , the boat won't break. Hey Lucky, I'm like you in the Pacific off Sydney, head seas heading out in the morning , mainly following seas returning to port. Trim in either motor or tabs or even both...

    Auto Trim Tabs

I have and they work very well but they are slow. I had lenco electric on a previous boat much faster.

    AutoPilot Accuracy...

I couldn't agree more with that statement . In my case it is very handy trolling offshore, especially when only 2 on board towing 5 lines.

    What does this look like?

Engine compression test should be done when engine is at operating temperature and WOT. A low compression on one or more cylinders could indicate bottom end ( warn/broken sticky rings, warn bore etc) or valves . If you have low comp on one cylinder and you squirt small amount of oil then check...

    Small Offshore Comparison’s

Big rollers and 10 second periods are not a problem . When you have rollers coupled with 20 knot winds and 5 second periods they stand up. That's the time I wish I had a younger body. I don't use mine for entertaining, just fishing 2- 4 anglers .

    Those kill switch thingies?

What Spark said, I never use mine it is useless but I never fish on my own. If I go over for some reason there is someone on the boat to pick me up.

    Small Offshore Comparison’s

Yes it can in the Pacific as along as you can take some pounding . I fish offshore in mine 30+ miles , you can't see land . I never feel unsafe but trying to land a Marlin or Bluefin can be a bit hard if you have 20+ knot wind . Your preference but I like the 228, I use the cabin to store my...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

I think I will break long before my Seafarer will, I flogged my last one for 7 years she was still intact when I sold her.

Seafarer 226 prop size with 200hp 2 stroke

Enertia is superior to Mirage plus . On my last boat ( 228 with 250 Optimax) I tried Mirage plus 17", Vensura 17+19 and Enertia 17,18 and 19 . I found the Enertia 17 best suitable for my application , offshore fishing big Pacific swells and sometimes very short period chop. (waves standing up)...

Seafarer 226 prop size with 200hp 2 stroke

In my opinion one of the best props available and especially suited to Mercs . I have a Yamaha saltwater series 17" . I have a 17" and 18" Enertia that I'm going to try on my 250 Yam when i get around to get the correct prop hub. I want to compare the 2 props and i will report results.

    Propeller Grady White 228

    Seafarer cabin hatch

Has anybody fitted a gas strut on the cabin hatch on their seafarer? If not any other boat that has a similar hatch. Post a picture and details of what you used please. Thanks in advance

    Live Well Support Arm

You can replace it with a gas strut but you may have to reposition at least one of the mountings . If you prepared to do that you need a 20-30 lb strut and you can work out the length depending on how you will mount it. Looks like halfhitch has the same boat with same tank and his was gas strut...
