    A question about trailers

Yeah, I was just posting because I sort of feel like I know what I am doing and then this happens and I'm an idiot. I'm hoping someone down the road searches for trailer backing up locked up and finds this thread and goes huh, I should plug in my electrical connector. I had no idea about this...

    A question about trailers

So in the I am an idiot department. You have heard me complain about my trailer, this one is on me. I'm a newbie and I just got schooled. I had my trailer in one spot, hooked it up to move it so my guy could trim the bushes so I had a wider spot to back into. I just hooked the ball, didn't...

    Quality Assurance on new Grady's

As I've said elsewhere, I don't want to blow up the relationship. Yeah, they could be a lot better. But they are all I have for the boat. I could care less about the Yamaha, I'm a shade tree mechanic in my retirement (long boring story), I can do all of the work on the engines. I had a real...

    Quality Assurance on new Grady's

Your experience is what I wish my experience was. I'm resigned to my dealer being so-so, it is what it is. I'm not going to bitch them out to Grady because they do eventually come through. I'm just jealous of your experience, I spent all that money to get that and no luck. Whatever, it's a...

Epic day fishing on the pacific coast in California

You're the guy with the Marlin 300, right? Ran up to me at the launch yelling "Luckyduuuude!" which was awesome. Yeah, how about a 2 boat launch and we run out for rockies and lings? Where did you go? I stuck pics up at my weirdo site, look for July 20: http://mcvoy.com/lm/boat

    Quality Assurance on new Grady's

If it makes you feel any better, my dealer is less than I hoped they would be. You can find my thread about the trailer, them not catching that on the first go around is not on them, it is on the trailer company. But when I brought it in bent and the bent it back and sent me out the door with...

Epic day fishing on the pacific coast in California

I'm the newbie in the 228 always asking for advice. Where to go, how to fish, how to smooth out my boat, yadda, yadda. Graditude but not enough fish? Today we had enough fish. Did a two boat launch with my fishing buddy and mentor, Barry Lakinsmith today. We motored north a long way to just...

Best prop for a 228 with the Yamaha 250?

Sounds like I should make looking over the prop part of my water flush procedure. Sometimes I think having a boat is like a fire hose of info. Though you do make progress, I remember asking my fishing buddy for his lists, pre-at-house, pre-launch, launch, docking, post-dock-at-launch...

Best prop for a 228 with the Yamaha 250?

If that happens, is it pretty obvious? Does the engine sound different? I'm wondering if you could hit something and not realize that the prop was not right.

Best prop for a 228 with the Yamaha 250?

Please educate me on that, do props come off or something?

    Those kill switch thingies?

I've been fishing! And fixing up my scotty down riggers. And learning about props. I'm still here and still grateful for your advice.

Best prop for a 228 with the Yamaha 250?

More newbie questions... The troll mode on my 250 at 600 rpm is still over 3mph. Doesn't matter if I am down wind, up wind, whatever, it is over 3mph. So I found a Suzuki kicker that will be here Tuesday. Point being, I don't need a slow prop to try go slow, that's what the dealer gave me...

    Those kill switch thingies?

Fell is ordered, should be here in a few days. My installer is ignoring me so I might have to do the install. Has anyone one done the 2 engine install (I have a kicker coming Tuesday)

    208 vs 226

I don't know what vintage those are. My dealer had a 208 and a 228. I crawled all over the 208 and decided it would be a fine boat for 2 people fishing, you could do 3 but you'd be working around each other. The 228 you can fish 4 in very comfortably and you could do more but you'd be working...

    Those kill switch thingies?

That's the one I called the "thingie". It looks good but I've not used one. I think 3 of you like it. To the nay sayers, do you have a concrete reason why I should not install this? Perhaps I'm a crappy captain but I never hook up the lanyard so I want an answer that lets me fish solo and...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

5 @ 11 is rare thing. 5 @ 9 is typical. If I saw 5 @ 11 I'm going out. I'm going to try a 4 blade prop that should let me plane at lower speeds.

    228 Bilge Pump

I had a wscott working for me, a good friend in Indiana, I'm guessing that is not you but if it is woot woot! I've been through this and there are two sources. The rod holders drain to the bilge, so if you spray under the gunnels and get water in there, yep. And the cup holders aft, they...

    AutoPilot Accuracy...

If I start doing tuna runs then I'll think about auto pilot. I need to be older and wiser before I do that. My runs are all within sight of shore right now and I have radar if it gets foggy (to tell you the truth I have yet to turn that on other than to test it). If I were East Coast and had...

    2020 Grady White Freedom 215

Yes he has been chatting with me, and like this post he just did, he knows what he is talking about (I'm a n00b so I could be wrong but I doubt it) and he takes the time to walk you through his experience. Magicbill is one of my favorite people here and that says a lot, there are great people...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

Great advice, very useful, I'll get on it. I may take a trip down some afternoon just to practice stuff. I've sorted trimming the engine (though I need to figure out where it gets on plane best, I suspect trimmed back a little), I need to sort the trim tabs, I need to practice tossing one of...
