    Soft Spot - Gunwale

    Soft Spot - Gunwale

I stand corrected, thanks wrxhoon. It is the same patch color. I’m up in Boston...the temps are pretty extreme from cold to hot. I’m assuming more dings will show up at some point. I’ll take that advice and use a small brush to try and mimic the non-skid. Will be ordering the patch kit...

    Soft Spot - Gunwale

So I think everyone here was about right to some degree. I did follow DennisG01 & wrxhoon - popped out the gelcoat and found that it was an air pocket. Fiber glass is clearly visible and not damaged/soft. I have patched with Spectrum gelcoat on the hull of my boat but haven't done any on...

    Soft Spot - Gunwale

Great thanks everyone. Just to make sure i'm hearing you all correct, these seem to be my options: 1. Drill & Fill - Use MarineTex white 2. Drill & FIll - Use epoxy and MarineTex 3. Remove cracked gelcoat - Re-gelcoat and be done with it 4. Leave it as is and fix it later Will spend some time...

    Soft Spot - Gunwale

Hey Everyone, Cover is off and i'm excited to launch! I noticed 2 softspots on the bow gunwale this spring and want to try and take care of them before getting in the water. Any suggestions on fixing this? The bigger of the two sports is about 1/2 wide and the smaller of the two spots is...

    Grady 180 sportsman help

On your 180, do you notice a list or heavier side while riding? My port side sits a bit heavier in the water... I have a 2001 with a 130 2 stroke, the only time I get some porpoising is when I have to many people in the stern...just shift the weight! Small boats tend to have smaller "issues"...

    Leaking Center Console

Hey guys. Anyone have any advice for a small leak in center console? I noticed some water after a hard rain. Seems to be collecting on the floor but has no way to drain out. I know the caulking is old that seals the console to the rest of the deck but is this normal? Water is in the right...

    Gel coat/Fiberglass repair

Thanks guys for the notes! So I was able to sand the holes down and make the edges a 45* angle with a dremel. That went smoothly. What I found out after the fact is this...making the painters tape around the punctures as small as possible is key. Having to much of the gelcoat repair on the...

    Gel coat/Fiberglass repair

Seasick - the gelcoat broke clean and there is no damage to the fiberglass! the depth of the ding is less than a quarter of an inch... No to worried about the color of the gelcoat...as long as it is somewhat close to the original color. the ding is about 3/4 the size of an male adult pinky...

    woodruff key on yamaha

The key needs to be sticking out a bit. Its a pain in the #ss to get in and out...make sure when your putting it back in, its even on both sides. Also make sure that when you take it out your not dinging your drive shaft. That would be bad :) Ian

    Gel coat/Fiberglass repair

Thanks! How about sanding it down? A little nervous about that part. Once sanded, do I just wax and polish to get back to the shine the rest of the hull has? And yes, I am getting Spectrum Color 2oz from my Grady Dealer. Ian

    Gel coat/Fiberglass repair

Hi Everyone, Almost summer (erhermmmm I mean boating weather!) here in New England. While cleaning up my 180, I noticed a puncture in the gel coat. Looks to be a surface thing only and hasnt really gotten to wet... The puncture must have come from a rock or something bouncing off the hull...

Fogging at end of season...Oil drip & Winterizing

The other thing I am quite perplexed at is how I managed to break off the speedo tube and plastic nut from the section of lower unit it is screwed into. I was able to get a little of the plastic nut out from inside the screw hole. I dont want to strip the rest of the threading inside the screw...

Fogging at end of season...Oil drip & Winterizing

This is great! Thank you. I guess I shouldnt be worried then seeing the oil dripping in the exhaust housing and down through the prop. My lower unit isnt leaking which is a good thing. I am still going to take the prop off and check for fishing line in the seals...I will probably end up...
