Fogging at end of season...Oil drip & Winterizing

Thanks Lt. Mike, sorry to ask the question but what do you mean by "OB coating everything and out the exhaust which goes through the hub". Do you mean that since I sprayed a lot of fogging oil, it must not have all burned off and is just running through the engine. Finally all the fogging mist...

Fogging at end of season...Oil drip & Winterizing

Hi Gents, So I just pulled my boat and got it ready for winterizing. I fogged the engine and ran some stabil/ring free through my in hull gas tank. I have a 2001 Yamaha Saltwater Series II engine. I noticed oil leaking from the bottom of the prop down the skeg...took the lower unit off and...

    Exhaust housing oil/lube streak

Ooops, should have included that. It is a Yamaha 130 (TXRZ) 2 Stroke, 2001. Here is another photo that might help a little more. You can see that there is a little collection on the top of the cavitation plate. it drips down from inside the cowling/exhaust housing. Ian

    Exhaust housing oil/lube streak

Sorry for all the posting as of lately, one last question!! Today after letting my engine run with the ear muffs on for 20 or so minutes, I noticed a stream or oil/lube running down the back of the exhaust housing. This is all above the cavitation plate and below the power head...I do not have...

    Idle's high

Harpoon (my favorite beer by the way) im assuming you're telling me to adjust it back to factory specs right...or as close as I can get it? Yamaha says 675-725 rpms. Ian

    Idle's high

Never thought of that. Thanks! If it is still a tad high...is that a sign of something wrong or just in need of an adjustment? The RPMs are pretty consistent, btw. Ian

    Idle's high

Hi Everyone, Got my Grady up and running just a couple weeks ago. I noticed after replacing the spark plugs and fuel/water separator that my engine at idle is running between 900 - 1000 rpm's. I have a Yamaha Saltwater Series II 130 two stroke, 2001. In the past 4 years that I have owned...

    Loose connections

Thanks so much! I got under the center console yesterday with a friend that is a good electrician. We worked on a bunch of things and I think I am a little more prepared to battle the inevitable. I also found out that my stereo deck is now defunct and wont close the circuit for my...

    Loose connections

Thanks for the feedback. That was my initial thought. None of them have corrosion or broken pieces, being 15 years old I feel they need a little attention and elbow grease. Thanks!

    Loose connections

Hi everyone - almost boat season here in NE! I have been working on my 180 for about a week washing, cleaning, replacing some broken things. I noticed, while replacing the trim/tilt toggle on the throttle that some of the connections into the fuse panel are loose. The boat is a 2001 and most...

24 offshore fuel tank sending units

Barometersoup...I had a similar issue with my 180 last summer. Super easy to fix and easy to get the right length. I called Grady and they were able to give me the length of my sending unit in the tank. Use WEMA USA to order the new unit...Grady uses them in their initial builds from the...

    Tach/Speedometer & Trim/Tilt change out

Hi everyone, Coming into the end of the season I had a couple things go on my 180. Tach/Speedometer digital gauges have started to become unreadable. I have a 2001 Saltwater Series II engine. Doing some reading I found which parts I need to fix this and think I can do it come spring. Has...

    Steering and engine tilt button

Thanks seasick. If it is just the housing then it might be easier than I originally thought. If the contact and switch are corroded beyond a clean up...how involved is it to replace? Any pictures? Thanks, Ian

    Steering and engine tilt button

I replaced the steering cable and that is all set. The thing that I am most aggravated at is the engine tilt on the throttle handle. I am kind of a newby to this...looked at the diagram at my local marina and it looks quite complicated to replace such a little wire/electronic piece. Can...

    Steering and engine tilt button

Thanks everyone. I just want to make it understood that I do not have trim tabs...just engine tilt. I will look for a diagram of the throttle configuration and use that to...I guess guide me along the journey. Ill probably do this at the end of the season so I dont cramp any of my sacred...

    Is the snow gone yet?

Just got back from the New England Boat Show. I want my boat in the water!!! Looking to do the commissioning myself this spring. I have a couple questions: 1. 2001 Yamaha 130 2 stroke (dont have the model number but can get it, 6ft of snow around my boat). What type of spark plugs are...
