    mine had the same symptoms, it was the seal on the steering ram by the engines. did the tilt and trim seals at the same time as the motors would slowly come back down.

    I have the blue lights for the helm switches and the under gunwale lights. Blue is not so night vision friendly as the red lights are.

    I anchored in 80 just a few weeks ago in the Keys. you never know, I got tired of drifting and having to move back to the fish. I found them and wanted to stay on top of them so i dropped the anchor. just make sure the bitter end is tied off.

    New power head and stick with the plan. I am waiting for the bomb to drop on my 225's.i found a place near me that has rebuilt heads for under 5k. However the feeling would be the other needs to be done as well so people may shy away

    there is not much to these boats biggest thing on a trailer boat...dont forget the plug! check fuel and if 2 cycle... engine oil. planning on being out after dark.check the running lights, channel 27 is VHF test. check for enough life vests for each person, flares, additional sound device...

    knowing which model windlass you have could help troubleshoot better but it could be the solenoid on the down side is corroded or the cone inside that needs to be greased or the cone could be getting stuck.
