I have my Marlin 300 insured by United Marine Underwriters. It was by far the best coverage and cost.

    Stolen Motors, brave thieves

I also heard the ring stole 40 motors in one night down in southeast Florida around Melbourne and Ft Pierce. I bet they are in a container on a ship to Africa or South America. They hit small marina's and boat storage places without cameras or video. Smart crooks.

    Side curtain recommendation?

Update: Frankie at Dockside Canvas is replacing the clear panel for 120 bucks. Way cheaper than replacing the entire port curtain.

    blotchy fibreglass

I recommend you try Seapower Marine cleaner and wax. That stuff is amazing. I have used it for years with good results on red wine stains, rust stains, suntan lotion stains, and bird poop stains.

GW 376 Canyon---Canvas covers for the helm

In addition to covers for the helm and helm seats, I had covers made for my port and starboard bolsters, and back bolster and fold down seat. I learned the hard way from my previous boat that the sun eventually eats everything.

    Side curtain recommendation?

My port side curtain on my 2007 Marlin has a 6 inch split in the see thru plastic. I had a guy come out and make a recommendation. He wants 900 bucks to replace the one curtain, but said he would do all the curtains for 1900. I have not found another shop willing to take a look yet. What do...

    Outrigger rigging upgrade

I have used both mono and dacron, prefer the dacron. I have the pulleys on my outriggers, seems to work much better. Be sure they are stainless steel rollers. I have used three different kinds, they all work fine, go with what you prefer.

    Windsheild wiper blades

I found a way to beat the high prices of wiper blade replacement. Advance Auto Parts: TRICO Break-to-Fit Wiper Refills. The ones that fit my Marlin 300 are model 47-800. $7.52 a pair. 17" to 26" inch, 8mm square claw blades. Easy to fit perfectly, easy to break to fit. Beats the heck out of $30+...

    WHich Autopilot

I got it as a gift from my son so not really sure what the unit cost, the Garmin site shows $1595. I did have it installed, got charged $981. It did include some added parts to connect it up. If I had it to do over I would have shopped around for a better installation price.

    10 Oct Snapper/Scamp trip

Finally got a weekend of reasonable winds so we headed our for red snapper and scamp. We were able to avoid the red tide by heading West about 25 miles down the beach. I had checked the FWC website for their satellite imagery of the red tide. We got lucky going out the pass as our live bait...

    polishing SS props

I am into the 100 hour maintenance on my engines. Anybody ever try toilet bowl cleaner to polish up your stainless steel props? I used the "works" today while in the dingy after changing lower unit oils and touching up the lower units where I cleverly ran them into the sand out at Shell...

    First Grady, Winterizing question

I agree with Dave. Do the 100 hour per your engine manual. In addition, if not already noted in your engine manual, I would most definitely change fuel water separators every 100 hours. However Yamaha says change them every 50 hours. If your are using non ethanol fuel I would go to 100...
