    New Transducer Install

Big mistake to use 3M 5200 in that application. I had to remove two simple backing plates from my boat that the previous owner needlessly bedded with 5200. It would be a shame to damage the gelcoat on the bottom of your boat should it need to be removed. Transducers do fail.

Suspension Shock Absorbing Mounts for Helm Seat

Check out the forums for the whitewater jetboat boys. They use those a lot. They are standard issue on some models. There are some good ones out there. Bostrum is a name I remember from my whitewater days. They are top shelf though.

    Getting a raise

I dealt with that same situation when I repowered my Grady with the 4.2 L. They changed the lower unit gear ratio from 2.0 to 1 on the 3.3L to 1.75 to 1 on the 4.2L. Thats about 12% higher gear ratio, I think. Made my new 4.2 with same HP rating unable to spin the prop off the old motor up to...

    Golight Connections

Looks like good quality parts. If the connectors have a rubber seal then you should be good for a long time. I know what you mean when you talk about having to fiddle with something like that when lots of things are going on at a critical time. Can make for having to dig out the buffer and...

    Trailer Problems

I remember when you had that happen and posted a warning. I went to a heavier chain and got it off that link. Thanks for the heads up.

    squid daisy chain puller

How about adapting a downrigger for the job. Go down thru a snap on the transom. That way you just hit the button to bring in the teaser and the line stopper will turn off the rigger when its in.

    bottom paint

You may as well roll the trailer out from under the boat so it’s easier to get at all areas. I recently did some work on my trailer and did the same thing. I didn't have to work under the boat. I would recommend additional blocking under the chines at midship if you are working under it.

    Slow Fueling

Just remember, all this extra crap in the newer fuel systems were the work of the Grady White bean counters and their lawyers. You can bet the mechanics didn't lobby to install all that troublesome equipment. It's an effort by the managers to jump through the federal hoops put in their way to...

Water in the cavity of the swim platform on a 228?

I don't know what type of hatch cover you have now but if the surface is flat then an Armstrong hatch plate will seal water tight

Good things that boaters have done for each other?

We towed our boat up to Sekiu, Washington on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, for halibut several years ago with our truck and camper. We had went out early and had got one fish but the wind and rain started getting nasty in the early afternoon, so we ran in (about 10 mi) and were up in the camper...

Amber indicator lights or toggle switch ‘87 seafarer

I just replaced the lights that illuminate my switches. This is an exact replacement, but my boat is an older SeaRay. They are a good light though for the purpose. Not too bright at night. This price is way out a line though. You can find them for 5 or 6 bucks, I think...

    Breakaway Anchor

SkunkBoat, I worked in dredging for many years and when anchoring our crane barges, we used the exact system that Dennis talked about. Our anchors of course were much larger (11,000 to 31,000 lbs.) but the principle is the same. That line is called a crown pendant. It is called a pendant because...

Adding power assist to a 228?

To add to HMBJacks answer to question B.... If you are looking at the SeaStar 1200 Series power steering pump, it senses the pressure/flow from the manual helm pump to determine what is being ask of it so the original helm pump remains, and the power unit is plumbed into the hyd circuit...
