    Moving up... Learning Curve

Go bigger! Seriously, tried putting 3 kids in about that same range on a Sailfish. I got real crowded, real quick.

Anyone know this Sailfish?? " OH MADON ! "

That's the one I saw on CL a few weeks ago. It's up again for $1500 with a location of Pasadena, MD. That's where I grew up and I still go up there every once in a while to see my parents. If you want, I could possibly check it out for you during my next trip.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

Now way I would go through all that work and only put 1/2" ply in for the stringer cores. 3/4" minimum. I started using vinylester resin earlier this year and so far, I like it much better than epoxy. Glass wets out much easier with it. In terms of resistance to water absorption, yes epoxy...

When was the last time you changed your thermostats? If the t-stat for the left bank is sticking open, it could case that side to not come up to proper temp and foul plugs.

    Realistic Hull Value

Agreed. That's a good starting point. You can always go higher if you initial inspection reveals it to be in better shape than expected. Is this the one in Annapolis?

    Fuel Gauge Accuracy

I use the standard type of fuel gauge (that relies on an in-tank sender) for show only. To accurately measure your fuel usage/level, you need a fuel flow meter. Inexpensive ones like the old school Navman (Northstar, Lowrance, etc.) are best suited for use with older engines because the flow...

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

When the rest of the boat looks like it does, you can probably bet on it.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

If I were you, I would look into a very different approach since you have pretty much determine everything under the deck is trash. Pull the cap and liner so you have a bare hull to work with! Either that or throw the boat away...

    hull repair help

You've got a few choices. For gelcoat you can get color matched stuff online from Spectrum Color or Minicraft, you can buy OEM Grady gelcoat from your local dealer or you can pick up standard white gelcoat and coloring agent from your local retailer. For a faded boat, your best bet is to go...

    hull repair help

Step 1 is to grind or sand off whatever that crap is that was used to make the initial repair. I like a 60 grit sanding drum or flap wheel in my Dremel for stuff like this. After your done sanding/grinding the area mask over the whole thing w/ blue painters tape. The trace around the repair...

    Painting the bilge areas

Rough it up and brush or roll on new gelcoat. That's what I've done after replacing the bilbe pump block in a few boats.

    Replacing 1983 Seafarer floor/gas tank

From the looks of those pics, you have a lot of other issues to address before you start worrying about the floor and gas tanks. Your stringer and bulkheads are toast.

    Sand in motor

Don't know if it's right or not, but I pull the thermostat covers and thermostats and then hold a garden hose to the openings the block and turn the water on. If you position the hose just right and hold it really tight, there's actually very little leakage. My thinking behind this is it will...

Re: Fuel Gauge Ohm Reading 33 to 240. I think 33 on the full side, and 240 on the empty.
