Fish finder/ GPS turns off when starting engine

Blue sea is good. The integrated ones are great. Make sure all wires have new connectors so the corrosion fungus doesn’t start growing on your new box. Spray the whole box and connectors with corrosion block when you are finished assembling. Also check the nuts on the battery are super tight...

Fish finder/ GPS turns off when starting engine

First thing I would do is replace the fuse box. Cut off all the wire ends and crimp on new connectors. That style box has lots of corrosion issues. Doesn’t take much corrosion to make the box loose voltage and have problems. Cleaning this style box has a very low success rate. I have replaced a...

    Panicking please help

I’m thinking 17 is way too low for twins. I agree with 19-21 to be your ticket. Bow lift style is important. Guessing it to be more towards the 20 to 21 range once you get that bow lift. Your cruise speed would be better than what you are getting. Get them changed out ASAP. Don’t want to be...

    88 Overnighter no alarm.

The brown wire is the negative side for the horn activation. The purple is the positive when the key is on. When motor is overheated, the brown is activated and triggers the horn. The test beep is usually activated by the module on the back of the vro pump. No test beep will happen if vro is...

Today at Carysfort Reef, Key Largo

I’m out of town. I haven’t heard the recent report. May have to go deeper. I usually do good at the 1800 to 2400 area where the drops are large. Check the gps area around these numbers. If you find some weeds here action is sometimes better when there is nothing going on in the shallower water...

On the water impressions of my 228

Excellent. Sometimes that driveshaft angle can be a bear. Kinda have to wave the lower around while you keep the shift lined up. Sometimes the shift shaft has to be rotated a smidge to line up the shift splines while mating up the lower to the midsection. You did a great job.

Gotta grab the shaft with a pair of vise grips lightly half way up the shaft. Turn the prop and click the shaft left and right to check. When you reinstall, use long nose needle nose pliers to line up the Shift shaft. Be sure the cable detent is in neutral above and the unit is also in neutral.

I bet he is talking about shifter. Rotating the prop is absolutely correct. It lines up the clutch teeth and the gear teeth.

    Losing RPM

Those filters have a problem with ethanol in that the Plastic threads like to melt into the housing and shred. I only have that problem with ones that have been exposed to ethanol. They can also warp with ethanol and cause the air leak.

    Losing RPM

Anti siphon valves can be removed without removing the dip tube.

    Losing RPM

If you have antisiphon valves, get rid of the spring and ball out of the aluminum tank fitting on the pickup tube. I get rid of all of them since they are not needed on an outboard.

    Rod Holders

I agree there should be more rod holders on every boat. Nobody catches more fish on a boat than the rod holders. Lol. First you have to figure out if you want angles ones or ones that stick straight up, and also figure out where you want to put them. I would match the ones you have so everything...
