    Usable Fuel GW 335

It depends on where you stand:) If you and your friends stand aft, the tank will have a greater angle and the gas will pool towards the aft end of the boat, in effect making the effective level higher. You will have the greatest angle when getting on plane but not there. Now if you and your...

    aluminium trailer corrosion

Dissimilar alloys are the issue but in addition to the anode and cathode, you need an electrolyte. The moisture in the air can be enough especially if the air is near the briny.

    Tank replacement

No, most are aluminum. Some of the smaller hulls have poly tanks.

    Tank replacement

If and when they leak:) Seriously though, since many leaks start on the underside of the tank, you have to open the tank coffin and pull the tank to check. That's a big job usually and if you are going through all that effort you might want to consider replacing the tank. How long the tank lasts...

    Yamaha CL7 set up issues

I am not sure whay removing the batteries ( main batteries?) would cause the config to be lost.

    Exhaust inspection

Great pictures. Do you have a picture of the oil pan, looking at the inside?

    Trim tabs

To start, retract the tabs completely. To do so, press both BOW UP (bottom) switches. You should be able to hear the trim tab pump noise change when the tab is fully retracted) Now experiment with the motor trim to see what angle works the best. So for now, don't use the trim tabs, just the motor...

02 Yamaha 150 HPDI twins- Relay issues

Most controlled devices connected by the ECU are done so by switching the grounds on and off and not by switching on the 12 volts as you might suspect. I don't have a rigging manual for early model year yamis. Without a wiring diagram, It is difficult to diagnose There might be some info here...

    aluminium trailer corrosion

The trailer is 17 years old. Things will corrode. I think it is a bit late to worry about the mounting pads:) That said, as long as it is apart, you can clean the frame areas and apply an etching metal primer made for aluminum, followed by something like the butyl tape that Dennis suggested or...

    Early 2000's transoms

The condition of the transom is the most important issue. As long as you don't exceed the maximum rated power you will be OK. The added weight of 4 strokes might be an issue on something like a 228 but the Marlin is a much bigger boat and the extra weight shouldn't make a big difference

02 Yamaha 150 HPDI twins- Relay issues

Swapping the ECU can be a risky operation and is usually not advised but with my fingers crossed. The reason is that if there was a condition on the motor that fried the ECU, swapping a different one could cause the new one to fry also. Note that you do not need a harness at all to power up and...

    1999 225 Tournament: on-board fresh water questions

That is a Scandvik product and very common. Pretty easy to find at marine supply stores. If you buy the head with the hose ( and your old hose is probably stiff and old), check that you get the correct version. The fitting at the supply end has several models. Shop around, there are better...

Question on auto bilge pump wiring 209 Escape

In many cases when there is a separate float switch , there are only two wires from the pump. The two feeds from the float switch and the helm manual switch are wired together to the pump lead. The other pump lead connects to ground

Engine cuts out a running speed

Take a look at the bulb to see if it has collapsed. That would indicate a blocked tank vent usually. Also when you squeeze it, see how it feels. It should get firm normally.

02 Yamaha 150 HPDI twins- Relay issues

You checked the fuses on the motor?. There are a few small ones and a big capacity one. The next step is to test the power connections and the ground connection at the motor. Use a test lamp if you have one. It is also possible that you have a problem at the helm with the ignition switch. When...

Engine cuts out a running speed

Reading this again, It looks like the revs slow down but the motor doesn't stall ( you say it runs in 'derate' mode). At that point did you turn off the ignition and try to restart.? Can you confirm that your engine alarm sounder works. It will help to know if the engine just dies or instead...

    plano box bimini 306

If you are referring to the tackle boxes that slide into a cabinet with dividers, measure the slot size or another box. The Plano's are pretty standard sizes and you should be able to find a fit at a marine store or online

Engine cuts out a running speed

Depends on what motor and exact symptoms but my first guess would be a clogged VST filter. If not that, then another form of fuel starvation. Do you have a single motor or twins?

    Exhaust inspection

Unfortunately, an inspection (scoping) of the mid section can tell you if there is a corrosion problem in the stack , but some of the cases involved corrosion of the oil pan. You can not see that without pulling the power head and that is much more labor intensive.

    Trans Cracks

Whether you call it replacement or a repair, it will be a fairly big job $$$$. When did you buy the boat and when did you see the damage? . If the cracking is new, the problem is much more serious. What motor is on the boat now?
