Off the Great Loop. Boat pulled, see the full damage - Yikes. How to post iPhone MOV files?

Day 6. T- storms forecast today. We were lucky enough to get a small cabin nearly across the street from the marina. So no boating today. Head area has developed a small leak. Started smelling a bit. Poured dark blue chemical treatment and manually flushed. A thin dark blue streak flowed...

Day 5. St. Ignace to Hessel through the Les Cheneux Islands. It was a short run, but we made lengthened it by planning a longer route through the Les Cheneaux Islands. Started out entering Mackinaw Straights: Approaching various islands: Getting more into the islands: And...

Mostly, yes. My dad and a friend had joined for two previous short sections. But 80-90% has been solo to this point. And when I was working, that was kinda nice!

Day 4. Early Morning Departure from Manistique for a fairly long run to St. Ignace. Hugged to north coast as much as possible to stay out of shipping lanes. For a small muni harbor, Manistique did a nice job on their marina. Nice facilities including showers, laundry, coffee pot and...

Magical. Unfortunately, it’s not likely that I'll get back down the east shore of Lake Michigan. I had to give my truck driver a pick up date and I’d like to make my way towards Detroit as best I can by that date. And I have to drop my wife off in Mackinaw City on the 18th. Not complaining...

Day 3. Death's Door didn’t get us on the way in, so we paid homage on the way out. Entering Death's Door Exiting Death’s Door. Again with proper respect to Trident/Neptune: Lake Michigan gave us a gentle following sea this day. With that, everyone was happy: Eventually we made our...

Off the Great Loop. Boat pulled, see the full damage - Yikes. How to post iPhone MOV files?

Day 2: Day 1 ended at Kaps Marina on Washington Island, about 2/3 up Green Bay. No cell service or WiFi; hence no posting of Day 1 or 2 pics. Day 2 was about 50 degrees at sunrise. Cold enough for us South FL folks. Running into a ten knot wind and we were down right chilly! Mostly running...

Thanks for the encouragement- and the invites! Day 1 Boat finally arrived after after 5pm getting held up by Elsa after all. South Bay Marina agreed to keep someone there “as long as it takes” to get us fueled up and checked in. Actually got there about 5:30 pm. Put in at a Ramp in Fox River...

    1992 spirit termites

GWSHUM. First, welcome to the forum. I don’t know the answer to your question, but I’ll suggest posting it in the general forum. There it will be seen by all the members, quite a few who have invaluable experience. Rob

And the Admiral is joining me this time! At least for part of the trip. With that in mind, will try to make the trip interesting for her. So I’m skipping Chicago (saw that on previous leg) and putting in Green Bay. Hope to stay off the beaten path and avoid the bigger cities as much as possible...

Too Short to See Over Windshield! Step Suggestions?

Yeah. Sorry, didn't mean to make the picture so big. (Pasted directly from my iPad.) But since I did, sure does looks like it says Aquashox right on them. And I can't find them any longer.

Too Short to See Over Windshield! Step Suggestions?

Don. I misspoke when I wrote Sea Shox. Below is what I used. Can’t remember name, but it’s a moot point since they’re not around anymore. And I like them better than Sea Shox and they were $69 each, of I remember correctly.

    Repowering a 25ft sailfish

Take a look at the 1990 brochure on the Grady website. They list a max of 400 hp. Of course, they also offered an inboard version with 260 hp, but I don't think those things sold very well at all. Then I think about my previous boat, a 258, with a foot less beam and 700 lbs less weight and 300...

Too Short to See Over Windshield! Step Suggestions?

Same issue here. I put down some dry deck mat first, so area would drain. Then I added two layers of Sea-Shox at 1.5" each. That gave me great visibility, but I found that also raised my lower back a bit too high to hit the seat bolster just right. So on longer runs, I'll push one sea-shox out...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

Too bad. After buying three new Grady's, we had our heart set on a 282. Obviously we had to buy used. Neither a center console nor a Freedom fits our plans right now. And as nice as the 232 is, it doesn't have as the same fishing and family friendly transom as the 228, in my opinion. My wife...

    Sailfish Sun Shade

I bought one of these from Amazon: Oceansouth T-Top Bow Shade I put it on aft side of the boat's top and use two boat hooks as rear support. Side straps attach to top's legs rather than to cleats. Works well. I actually bought to shade cabin for this summer's boat trip to take some pressure...

Anybody else do this? Where do I look?

Scot: I use a one-man company called Tony Stewart (561.253.4007). I've been using him for twelve years. If I understand it, you only need engines shipped. If they are crated, could they go in the bed of an F350 while Tony moves a boat north from FL? You would likely get a better price on a...
