Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Russ: Frozen Water jug is a good idea.I presume drinks have to be cold to start out? Also, have you ever tried using what I call the cooler space just outboard of the burner?

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Fishtales. Yes, that is the plan. Just agreed on a price for a custom cabinet. Will be a couple of weeks before it is done. I had a few ideas I was looking forward to trying. But I’m sure this will look better than anything I would have done. Rob

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Thanks for all of the confidence-building posts. And all accurate. Now the more thoughtful job is how best to finish the space for storage. For anyone else attempting to remove the fridge; Remove four small screws along the top that hold the door in place. Remove three screws from lower...

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Thanks K2. I intend to finish off the area for storage. The power leads will go to a switched dome light. Currently, I leave the fuse out of the fuse box just to make sure I’m not unintentionally draining the battery. Thanks, Rob

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

I see only a few, small Phillips screws around the trim panels. So I know it can’t be that easy. What surprises await me? I know when I get it pulled most or all of the way out, I’ll have 12v wires to disconnect. Anything more than that? Thanks in advance for the wisdom of those who have done...

    Trim Tab Noise?

Yep, mine do the same. It is reassuring to hear before the forklift picks the boat up.

Why Grady, going to the factory

We have bought three new Gradys. One of the things you won't fully see at the factory or at all on a test ride is that they will not let you be unhappy after the sale. One of experience that made a lasting impression is when our local dealer invited about thirty couples who had bought their...

    No Boating

And, at least for us, the sand bar parties and raft-ups occurred after both the County and the Marine Industries Association said if they continued, boating would be shut down. And they continued. Now we wonder how we got to be a hot spot for the damn virus.

    Some good world news....

I'm jealous! We're not allowed to take our boats out in Palm Beach County!!!

    AP pump location

On my Sailfish, it was outboard of the starboard side of the aft berth. Had to remove a panel to get to it, but after thirteen years, it was bone dry and dusty and showed no corrosion. Overall, I wasn't happy with the old Furuno AP that came with the boat, and put a power-assist steering pump...

Replace Fridge with AC. What challenges to expect?

Water heater is a good thought. That is another thing I've been meaning to get rid of. And now that you mention it, those wires could be the power supply to the AC, assuming they are correct gauge. I'd like to take some weight off the bow and open up that space for more lightweight items rather...

New Canvas Color: Ivory or Navy?

For me, a Grady should have Navy. Ivory does look impressive when new. But my 13-year-old 282 has white and I wish it were Navy. Rob

    State shut downs and marinas

My 82-year-old dad has symptoms, got tested and it has now been ten days and he still doesn't have results back. They are that backlogged where he lives (St. Louis area). We were caught very much unprepared for this. Fortunately for him, he is actually starting to feel a bit better on his own.

    Help getting motivated atm heh

Russ: I'm sorry but I'm no help to alleviate your stress. I'm retired and I can't get my boat in the water! All marinas and boat ramps are shut down (at least in certain Counties) as part of the state's lock down. So I'm painting fences and trim (ran out of paint today, thank God), and doing...

    State shut downs and marinas

Florida Governor so far has left it up to counties. Palm Beach County has closed all marinas and boat ramps. The exception, for now, is that charter fisherman can still operate.

Replace Fridge with AC. What challenges to expect?

Thanks Keith and mleads. I did a search and read all the threads I could find of members either adding AC or replacing fridges. I really like the elegant solution of AMF of adding the AC behind the aft berth and on top of the waste tank. But I've got some bad discs in my neck that limit how much...

Replace Fridge with AC. What challenges to expect?

Considering pulling out the 12v-only fridge and putting a 6,000 - 7,000 btu AC unit in its place. Looking to experienced brain trust here as to what challenges to expect. Boat is an 2007 Sailfish. Fridge is an Isotherm Model 1049BA1CL0000. It works fine and appears to be in good shape, but I...
