New Pompanette flip-up bolster seat. Pic added.

The photo below is the original chair. I'm not sure of the naming. It had the dual flip up arm rests. At least on my 2007 Sailfish, that 1.5" extra width is not noticeable. Obviously, that's only 3/4" on either side of the pedestal. The chair does rotate fully around to face the stern. That was...

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Russ: I'm anxious to see your setup. My setup works, but it can be improved upon, so I'm always looking for ideas. I'd really like to just do the permanent install of a real marine AC, but can't convince the Admiral. I think the cost would add to the resale value of the boat. Or at least the...

    Fridge ?

Good point about keeping the same cut-out. That's what I did also. But although it worked, I figured my 13-year old fridge had little value. Kid at the marina who has helped me occasionally said he could use it, so I gave it to him. Same with the hot water heater. In 2007, Grady used fridges...

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Skunkboat: Good idea. Would be nice to find a ready-made solution. Something that would make a 90-degree bend without disrupting airflow. Tx, Rob

    VHF Radio

Standard Horizon with internal GPS and AIS has been well worth it for me. I was not able to get the AIS to talk with my brand new Garmin plotter however. So I had a reputable, local marine electronics shop come out and do it. They sent two different techs to try and no connection was made. They...

    Snap rite system for snaps

I would be interested to see some finished products of what you do with this, if you don't mind. And your thoughts of how easy it is to actually get to what you wanted. Tx, Rob

    Kill box drain plug ?

Both under-seat boxes (port-side livewell and starboard-side cooler) on my 2007 282 Sailfish have valves that make them very dry boxes. The valves are (not so easily) accessed through pie plates beneath the box lid. The photo below was taken from access inside the cabin when I was poking...

    Greetings

Jay: Welcome to the Forum! That 212 Chesapeake was a Classic! But the 23 is a great boat. Rob

    Hi everyone!

Eric: Welcome to the Forum. Lots of knowledge and experience here, so ask away on any specific questions you have on those models. Russ gave good advice - get a survey before buying. It may even be that folks here can recommend a surveyor in the area of the boat you're interested in. Rob

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Jim: Pics not so hard to find. First pic is without any stabilizing straps in place. Exhaust runs to pie plate on port side of aft berth. If you remove pie plate just below live well, the two are very close and you have outside exhaust. Big drawback is you lose easy access to aft berth as a...

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Jim: Will take me a couple of days to dig up pics of AC in use. I believe they are on external hard drive. For what its worth, I went with a company called Trimmed Out in Seminole, FL. They followed my measurements exactly.

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Russ: You're right, did not install AC yet. Every time I talk about the cost of it, my wife starts talking about new furniture and then I stop listening. When and if I get there, it will go behind the aft berth, as another member here has described. A couple of tips for the portable AC...

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Got the custom cabinet installed. Many thanks to my wife who did most of the heavy lifting. It fit like a glove. Color choice was starboard white or black. Beginning to wonder if black would have been a better choice. White starboard is not easy to keep clean. I opted for the simple box. I...

New Pompanette flip-up bolster seat. Pic added.

The actual extra width into the space between the seats is 0.75”. Neither my wife nor I even notice it. The seat is actually 1.5” wider, but that is split equally on either side of the pedestal.

    No, it’s a deluxe with flip-up arms.

    Buying a new 208 Adventure

Our first Grady was a 17' boat, so it wasn't so much more expensive than other boats in 1992. The boat was great for a 17, but the follow up from both the dealer and the factory was exceptional. We got the 208 in 1995. Loved that boat. After ten years, your point about holding its value was true...

Woohoo! Our new to us 2006 Sailfish passed survey.

Congrats on a nice boat! And good luck with the long move. Another couple of long move tips: Wrap carpet around a small block of wood to fit under the engine when trimmed up. Then trim the engine down to rest its weight on that carpeted block of wood. Or you can buy Yamaha's rubber tubes to...

New Pompanette flip-up bolster seat. Pic added.

A pic of the new Pompanette seat on my 282: The raising/lowering of the seat relies on the same mechanism of the old seat. At least that is all I have done. I have not messed with top-most, spring-loaded screw on the new seat. I don't know what it does:

New Pompanette flip-up bolster seat. Pic added.

I put that seat on shortly after that posting. The seat is great - both standing and sitting. I really wanted the flip up bolster for some of my boat trips and 100-mile days at the helm. I've only been able to do two trips with the new seat so far. But it sure beats trying to position an anchor...

Rocket launch we for 360 express hardtop

Previous owner of my 282 installed a rod rack by using the two upper rod holders mounted on the legs of the hard top. A good idea if you have use for it. Unfortunately, for me, it just gets in the way. On the positive side, I'm 5'8" and I can reach them!
