    Adding Rod Holders

Depending on your needs there are better options than the OEM Grady White holders. Lee’s and CE Smith come to mind as well as some custom swivel holders. For example, I have swivel holders in the stock locations on my 208, one more swivel holder forward on each side, and a side mount swivel...

    Looking at the weather

Good point about the support on the lake vs ocean. Also keep forgetting that you have an Islander so agree that 5 ft won’t be too bad with that hull. Heck, you should see the slop guys fish in out here where a 20 foot boat is considered comfortable. Just bring an anchor and a lot of rope an...

OEM or after market in your boat repairs

Criticality is the first criteria. OEM if possible/reasonable but do research if it’s something that the factory outsourced to find an equivalent or better option. Ease of replacement is big here in Hawaii as there are significantly less vendors than on the Continental US. Shipping lead time...

    Pre Purchase Question

Strength isn’t an issue as the tools can be heat treated to improve hardness as I’m assuming you’re referring to galling when using tools/fasteners of similar composition. There’s a market of people who will pay the money for those tools (not your everyday boater or DIYer) though they are not...

Adventure 208 Cushion set - Any recommendations ?

What he said. If your cushions still fit you can take them in as a template and to match the snap locations.

    Pre Purchase Question

This man knows what he is talking about. The rust can also be from tools used to install the hardware or any impurities/contamination introduced during installation. My friend works on high end yachts on the West Coast and has some stainless tools he uses so the hardware doesn’t end up with...

    Looking at the weather

Not sure about where you are but I’m not convinced the wind waves will drop that fast in a day; even if they do the forecast could be off by 12 hours and you could get stuck in it. Agree with the others that it would be better to give the lake a try this weekend. You can still test run the boat...

Think this will hold the boat?

If you’re so inclined you can make cribbing blocks out of lumber but those stands have a safety factor in their design and hold well more than 6000 lbs each. You should be fine with four of them holding your boat up; just make sure they’re in good condition.

    Well, was fun planning...

Sorry to hear that you’re still fighting the trailer. You could check the trailer frame rail sizes to see if they’re used on higher weight rated models. If so, going with heavier axles could give you a little more margin on capacity but I’m not positive that would address the root cause of the...

272 Sailfish has twin 150s is that too light?

I’ll agree that reserve power is always a good thing to have but max hull hp might be completely overkill and there are some applications where the conditions don’t allow for use of anywhere near max hp/full throttle. I have to admit, though, it is fun to punch the throttle and instantly be on...

272 Sailfish has twin 150s is that too light?

1200 hours isn’t low but a properly maintained 4-stroke can run upwards of 5000 hours so I wouldn’t say the number of hours is an absolute dealbreaker. Looking at their age (2004) they’re only averaging a little less than 100 hours a year. Underpowered might be true if you’re looking at long...

    Weather apps etc

Windy. I use it because it can show results from different weather models. The ECMWF (European) model was recommended by one of the guys here who works at NOAA because it uses better input data. It doesn’t forecast as far out as the GFS model but so far has been the most reliable.

Adventure 208 Bow rail mods for wishbone outrigger mounts

Small world! Sent you a DM. I haven’t run the boat in anything crazy and am still getting her dialed in but she rides really well For a 20 footer. She’s no Kami, Knife, or Yellowfin, but for the size she’s hard to beat; maybe similar to a 21 force with a loaded fishbox. Of course she needed...

Adventure 208 Bow rail mods for wishbone outrigger mounts

Shane and I both live in Hawaii and at least half of the trailers (and most of those for boats 25’ and larger) are set up like this with a bow catch and beefed up side bunks. A lot of our ramps aren’t designed very well so it can be difficult to float a boat on/off at low tide. Other ramps can...

    Trailering 22 Tournament

A Frontier is rear wheel drive, hence my response was directed specifically toward the the OP, apologies if you found it confusing. Going back to 2015 the lowest availabe tow rating for a V6 Frontier was 6,300 lbs; 4 cylinder models didn’t come with an OEM receiver so it could be even worse if...

    Trailering 22 Tournament

With a late model V6 Frontier you should be within the tow rating. Your question of towing up the ramp is more in alignment with Dennis’s comments about traction. You probably won’t know for sure until you try it with your boat/truck but you can do some research by observing others and the ramp...
